A lot of you out there have a great deal of knowledge and I must say that I have learned so much from reading the posts. So my question is do you think that their will be a way that some one will be able to omit the birdie( Very Annoying ) ?

so far, the birdie is the birdie. the handhelds do not suffer from this problem a badly as the mobiles do. the only alternative is to find another zone and hope that your close enough to hear everything. bill simpson

866.300 is a freq in the Washoe Co NV system that I've monitored on several occasions. While the scanner locks in on the birdie when listening conventionally, I've never had a problem listening to the trunked system because of it. If anything, I've had to adjust the squelch just a tad tighter than I normally would, but there are no hangups because of it.
