Programming the BCD996T for Dummies

enter freq on the keypad press e it will say quicksave enter no the dot key then youll see which system you want to enter it press e twice then it will give you the menu options then set it with the name then set audio type to digital or anaolog then press e again tyhen press the hold key freq should be entered into your system

I could understand your instructions just fine. I stand to be corrected, but I can't find those instructions anywhere in the manual.
Okay, so that looks after entering a conventional channel. Baby steps I guess! Now on to the harder stuff!

We really get dinged for prices up here in Canada. $34.95 or $29.95 for this little adapter. I'm going to snoop around some computer guys I know before I put that kind of money out.
I'm really looking forward to using this software.
USB to serial adapters can be had for as little as ten dollars. Here's a $14 one:

I saved that computer supply website in my favourites. Thanks.
I'm going into a local city today and am going to try and find one at a similar price there.

Once one has the BCD996t_usad software, available free from Uniden, all one has to do to retrieve the original preloaded frequencies is to select the "write to scanner" tab and load the factory preloaded programming. I believe the original factory programming comes with that program.
