This is across the board sadly; 851-869 MHz is extremely congested in the central Florida market and I constantly see interference amongst the larger systems (by frequency count). It also doesn’t help that certain cruise ships that use Port Canaveral seem to now have external Omni antennas on their 850 MHz Capacity Plus shipboard systems.

What Cruise Lines (Ships) are still running 800 trunks ?
Last known 800's were Disney and they abandoned the 800 on-board for the 457/467 bands over 14 yrs ago

Sounding like a few agencies are having intermittent encryption (garbled transmissions) being patched back to the EDACS system now that they are 100% P25. At the same moment on the SDS100 I am seeing ENC for those transmissions on the P25 system. I've been running both side by side for comparison and for a while only the P25 was showing sporadic encryption but it was in the clear on EDACs but that seems to have changed this week for the beachside agencies. End of an era for monitoring in Brevard....

SYS REG RFSD OUT OF RANGE NO COMMS
FWIW - DSD+ is seeing cross affiliations (did not think that was possible) between both the Brevard and Sumter P25 systems - e.g, Brevard TGs are showing up on the Sumter control channel.... most odd. Again, this is just DSD+ data.....
That happens alot more than you think. During band opening I've seen RIDs from all over trying to register onto my local TRS. But most of them got either DENY or REFUSED as shown in DSD+

Does anyone know if/what changes are going on with the Melbourne, Florida FD dispatch channel(ID1065)? Since 7/4/25, I have noticed that after the tones, the dispatch audio seems to be scrambled.

It appears to me that at the very least, the beachside agencies have now moved over to the P25 system and are no longer on the EDACS system at all. I'm simultaneously monitoring both systems and detecting encrypted P25 traffic while the EDACS side is silent. Of course I can't decode the encrypted traffic but it's definitely present.

Here have been my observations so far over the last few days using DSD+ FastLane to confirm what I am witnessing on my SDS100...

Only one Encryption key used as has been mentioned before: KID 044D (1101) with AlgID 84 (AES-256).

I had Grok analyze a few days worth of VC and CC logs on the South Simulcast

The beachside agencies already had radios enabled with P25 Phase 2 and AES 8 years ago. The smaller agencies will make the transition much quicker.

Ok I spent more time and did better analysis in PowerShell based on CC and VC Event Logs from 8/1 to the time of this post. My last post exceeded what Grok could interpret so it was very incomplete.

Encryption % is not great for those of us who have monitored Brevard for years on the EDACs system. There could still be errors in my analysis of the logs but I cleaned this up quite a bit today.

Sign of the times, sad to see the last vestiges of analog TRS in Florida go away. Brevard was one of the very first to go trunked, likely will be all gone by year's end and not much left to hear.

It will be much sooner than the end of the year!

Btw, is the system info (RFSS/SITE ID) listed for the South Simulcast still accurate?

I get absolutely no CC lock on that Site/Cell. Even when in range of the Palm Bay tower. All I can get a CC lock on is the North Site/Cell.

Strange......

I had the same issue this morning with the Palm Bay tower. I ended up re-downloading the latest DB and dumping that on my scanner - not sure if that was the fix or if they changed something while my scanner was down, but, you weren't alone.

Has since acquired the correct CC and adjacency data.Unknown as to why that wasn't the case earlier.

Melbourne has almost fully completed it's transition.Looks like the county talkgroups are now the last ones starting to hit the chopping block. Won't be much longer before full obfuscation

Not that they needed to encrypt everything to accomplish that. The P25 intelligibility was pretty much doing a good job of that single-handedly.

Yeah definitely almost all gone... I agree the P25 over both the SDS100 and DSDPLus is not great... Only positive improvement I have heard was STAR going up and it didn't sounds like a helicopter going through a carwash, had much better radio / noise canceling.

I am noticing 50% encryption on some channels dispatch side unencrypted but we will see if that persists. I notice that on the Space Force system as well so could be by design I guess we will see.

Latest update as of this morning from South Simulcast this has ~20 days worth of data and added the last 24hr percent. I filtered out TGs with less than 10 calls so far.
