Welcome to the Broken Clip Club! Nice to have another to join. For me I put a strip of electrical tape along bottom from battery cover, over the clip and up the front to just below the speaker. I then wrapped a thin velcro strap around bottom of radio and keep it in its carry case. I stuck with using the small pack for now as it doesn't put as much strain on things trying to pop open. I don't want to glue it yet, haven't decided on when to send mine in or see if they'll sell or send me a clip. Plus never had good luck with any type of glue or weld on small plastic items under stress.Just happened to me today, held battery tight, didn't put much pressure on it, it was the small battery btw. This is maybe the third time I've removed the battery.
Now what do u do.
So I finally called uniden, and I get to pay to ship it back to them, that is the only way to get it fixed and keep your warranty.
I was unlatching. Using my finger.n5gqb, were you latching or unlatching the clip when it broke?
Mine seemed to be a bit difficult to unlatch using my finger. I started using the plastic side accessory port cover from a Motorola XTS2500 as a tool to unlatch the battery cover. It acts as a small lever, and works with almost no effort to release the clip.
I assume to re-open I would squeeze the battery door slightly against the case to release the latch.
Does not work that way when you have two batteries. Also not really a good recommendation.Or people just leave it in your radio and charge it from within the scanner itself. Problem solved with no risk of a broken latch.
