All Fire and EMS (with the exception of Harpurs Ferry) have fully transitioned to the new P25 system.
Broome Sheriff, Port Dickinson PD and NY State police have migrated over for the most part. There are still a few older radios out there so the patch to the old system will remain in place until further notice.
Johnson City and Vestal PD will migrate on 8/15.
Binghamton PD will migrate on 8/15 however that patch to the old system will also remain until further notice.
There is no time frame yet for Binghamton University Police to migrate over.
There are still a few DPW and highway departments left to transition. Their migrations will resume after law enforcement.

With Fire and EMS transitioned, what is the status of the old Low Band (33MHz) frequencies now?

Will VHF/UHF conventional frequencies (other than paging) be retained for Fireground or individual departments?

Is Binghamton FD dispatch and operations remaining on their UHF frequencies?

BTW- I just deleted the Airport 453.875 from the RRDB since the frequency is now CNYICC.

Binghamton FD is dispatched on the new system Battalion 2 dispatch. Operations are on the new Broome West fire ops talkgroups.

I see TG 27125 is Binghamton FD Ops 2 but apparently nothing has been submitted to RRDB about Binghamton Fire Dispatch. We need a submission to add that information. What is the status of the Binghamton FD UHF frequencies now?

As far as I know, the old UHF frequencies used by Binghamton and Johnson City Fire and the low band VHF Broome fire frequencies are no longer used. Fire and EMS is still toned out on the old VHF frequency 159.105. Broome county Fire and EMS has been divided up into 4 battalions. Battalion 1 is eastern Broome, 2 is south central, 3 is southwest, and 4 is northwest. Departments respond on their battalion's dispatch talkgroup. Binghamton FD is one of 5 fire departments that share the Battalion 2 dispatch talkgroup. Each fire department has their own private Ops 2 talkgroup. They are also assigned to the next available Ops talkgroup when they are dispatched. All departments responding to an incident will use that talkgroup for operations.

I would appreciate it if you could just cut and paste that into a RRDB submission for Broome County. That is excellent information and gives me a good basis to work from to prepare for future submissions as the system evolves. A submission provides a permanent record in the DB for future reference.

Thanks to an excellent submission from wilcom132 I am annotating the Fire Talk Group Subcategories with that info and marking the associated conventional frequencies deprecated. Deprecated frequencies remain listed for 30 days before deletion in case of changes in status.

I am investigating how this will affect the Western Broome Fire Departments and Local Fire/EMS VHF Conventional listings and expect to do more updates. I also need information on the Police transition as it is finalized.

Submission like this keep the RRDB accurate and informative for users. Knowing when to delete obsolete frequencies after a major transition like this requires accurate info from local sources so such help is greatly appreciated!

I have set most West Broome and Local Fire/EMS VHF conventional frequencies to Deprecated. I have left some individual department "Talk" and special frequencies like Fire Police listed pending further info on their status.

Links and information about CNYICC operations have been placed on conventional subcategory headers when appropriate.

I will do another update to the Broome RRDB conventional listing when Law migration is complete. If you see any issues with the RRDB listings please submit corrections.

In doing the clean-up I had set the new conventional UHF Fire TAC channels as deprecated due to my misunderstanding of the submission. Only the old UHF channels are deprecated not the new ones associated with the new P25 system. These have been returned to active Fire TAC status.

None of the old conventional channels will be used any longer. Some base stations are still in place, but only temporary. I will submit RRDB changes.
Thanks! I have the old Fire channels marked Deprecated but I need info on the status of the Law and any others. I now understand all the new TAC channels in various categories that are part of the new system and will remain.

I am unsure about the Hospital 155.340 and 155.400 since some counties have retained them for out-of-area ambulances going to local hospitals.

Getting accurate info about the fate of legacy channels after a system migration has been a major problem in other counties. Your input is greatly appreciated!

I have completed what should be the final edits to the Broome County RRDB conventional frequencies.

New VHF frequencies have been added for Battalion 1 & 3 Fire Dispatch links to the P25 system. All legacy Law frequencies are now marked deprecated due to confirmed information they are in the process of being shut down as soon as all units are migrated. I am told that it could be a few weeks until all Sheriff and Binghamton units are migrated but their VHF goes away as soon as that is completed.

The new VHF Battalion links are work in progress but should be active soon if not already. I will need to be advised of the PL Tone for the 155.8275 Windsor Battalion 1 link when it becomes active. That information was not immediately available.

I was advised of a conflict between the listed frequencies for the SUNY Vestal DMR Cap+ system LCN02 453.275 since that is a Broome West P25 Control Channel. The frequency has been deleted from the SUNY listing and I posted a separate thread looking for input to update the SUNY listings.

Has anyone heard of when the state police will begin using their new talkgroups in Broome County? I heard some testing on there a few months back but it's gone silent since.

The state police began using the new system in the end of November. They are simulcasting on the UHF P25 system and their legacy VHF channels from Troop C Headquarters in Sidney.

Does anyone have a saved config from freescan that i can upload to my BCD996P2 for broome county ny? My Dad has that scanner and he did something that cleared it all out. I have been trying to get it working for the past month, but I am new to all this and it just isn't working correctly. Get a hold of me if you can and we can figure out how to send it.
