Got a Browning BR-28 from a guy a few days ago and he said he never could get it below a 2.3 swr reading.
He wanted 15 bucks for it so I bought it. So, I put it on my triple mag mt on the top center of my extended cab pickup truck. The whip in these moves a lot up and down for adjustment and I could never get it below a 1.8 to 2.0 on different ends of the 11 meter band. So, I took my big heavy duty spring off off my mount where I mount my 102 ss whip this morning and put it up top on the mag mount and then screwed the Browning into it. After just a little bit of time, I had it down to 1.0 on channel 40 and 1.1 on channel 1.
Nearly as good as it gets. The best I've ever had. My 102 is close at 1.1 and 1.2. I was just flabbergasted that the 4 inch heavy duty spring between the mount and antenna made such a difference. Anyway, 1 st contact was with the "18", down in the sandpile, Florida. I'm pretty impressed with such a cheap antenna. Not bad for 15 bucks.
