I'm good then.Thanks. Your opinion of the software?
Butel's software is coming along. Not quite there yet, but each upgrade has offered more options. Unfortunately, my DV1 is now gone--- I found out (and just in the nick of time) that the unit I bought through Amazon had no U.S.A. warranty coverage, and quite possibly, no warranty coverage at all, because it was an unblocked version from an unauthorized dealer (third-party through Amazon).
There seems to be a immense grey market with the DV1 (just check eBay), and apparently AOR America has no way to deal with it. One might think that they could offer persons returning a unit for service (warranty or non-warranty) the option of receiving back their unit blocked to conform with FCC regulations. Apparently, that option is
NOT available. That likely explains one of the reasons that the radio is so much more popular in Europe and Asia than it is here in the United States.
I'll have more thoughts about the DV1 situation coming up over the next several weeks. For the time being, I recommend anyone in the U.S. considering the DV1 make sure you get it from one of the authorized U.S. dealers so that you get the proper version of the radio. I liked the radio very much, and was in the process of really discovering and sharing some of its more nuanced features and functions with other members here on the forums, but alas, it was not to be.
Getting back to the Butel software--- since AOR does not offer software with the DV1, the Butel program appears the only game in town right now, and it is really a necessity in helping to program the radio and keeping things logical and efficient.
