I know the Monterey dispatch center covers all of monterey county some of SLO county San Benito and I think part Santa Clara county. Also one time I heard them talking to the Sacramento from down here how does that work?

I hear them talk about Mt. Diablo all the time. I suspect they have a repeater/transmitter there.

Each mountaintop repeater for Fish & Game has a separate output tone. For example, in the San Diego area you can pick them up on the following -

107.2 - Toro (NE San Diego County)
127.3 - Lyons (South San Diego County)
186.2 - Boucher (North San Diego County)
162.2 - Blackjack (Catalina Island)
156.7 - Santiago (Orange County)

They'll usually announce the name of the repeater they're on during the initial part of the broadcasts.

I added 156.7 for Santiago to the DB, thanks. I'd love to get the tone plan completely mapped out. Anyone else with any tones and site names?

I have 118.8 at Shirley Peak (near Lake Isabella)
179.9 at Sisar Peak north of Ojai (Ventura Co)

Up here on the North Coast (151.415R)
186.2 - Pratt (Mendocino)
179.9 - Pierce (Humboldt)
173.8 - Horse (Humboldt)
167.9 - Red (Del Norte)

State Parks - North Coast

Everywhere but on the North Coast, I guess, where they tried 800 but it just didn't work, between the trees and the topography.

Humboldt & Del Norte Counties (NCoast Redwoods, Ft Humboldt, etc) are on 151.01R "Silver"(?)
Mendocino County - at least the northern part - 151.475R "Brass" (?)

Dispatched by "Northern" but they do a fair amount of interop on the local SOs' channels. Help can be hard to come by up here. One Sunday morning a few years ago a State Park Ranger called for help at a campground near the Lost Coast, and the nearest unit was a CHP who had a 45-minute ETA... Humboldt SO also responded, with 60 minutes. The ranger apparently was able to back off from the problem til the other guys arrived.

Hello, Everyone. 151.205 and 151.235 are indeed CA DWR, 151.205 is used in Kings and Kern Counties, every night between 10 PM and 2 AM I hear levee patrols originating out of Lost Hills Yard, mobile units are: J106, J107, J108, J109. Dispatch ID is "San Joaquin Control". 151.235 seems to be used from Huron north to about Crows Landing or Westley. Scannerdude, I also have it on good authority from a warden who lives and works in South Monterey County, that CenCom in Monterey handles all of SLO County. I also have heard wardens come across Rocky Butte near Cambria, and Tassajara Peak near San Luis Obispo, signing on with CenCom. CenCom also supposedly handles State Parks for all of SLO County, although for some strange reason, during business hours the base station at Hearst Castle seems to dispatch most calls for the San Simeon area, using the callsign "Hearst". This may be due to the small size of the area. The lower half of the SLO Coast District (San Luis Obispo/Morro Bay/Cayucos/Los Osos), is handled by Cencom, but the Oceano Dunes district seems to have a similar setup to San Simeon, with daytime dispatching done by Oceano Ranger Station- "Ranger Base", and nightime dispatching done by CenCom. They say the system works better, now that Cencom covers this area, but I dunno. It seems kinda hodgepodge without SLOComm in Oceano anymore.

(I hope DWR is OK in this thread too, since they're all part of the Resources Agency - but lesser known than CAL FIRE).

This may be a bit dated, but I have
Oroville Division - "Ocean" units - 151.235
Delta Division - "Delta" units - 151.205 (except Cupertino 151.235)
San Luis (the Dam, not the Obispo) Division - "Lincoln" units - 151.235
San Joaquin Division - "John" units - 151.205
Southern Division - "Sam" units - 151.235

Multiple combinations of uplinks and output tones.

Somewhere in my stash of goodies I have a DFG map of California with all of the sites and tones on it. I'll try to dig it out this weekend.

Maybe you could scan it and post it as a .pdf or .jpg.
Or if someone has the Kelty State of CA book and can look up F&G and see if the tones are listed I think we'd appreciate that too!

And check for DWR/WRCB too if possible. From my experience with them in the Bay Area they run on 205 with a static output tone of 136.5. Input varies and the in freq also does too. I wish the State would stick with a standard output tone. 151.235 can't be used as the Mid-Peninsula Open Space District runs on 235 with some decent power.

I catch the San Joaquin dispatcher transmitting from a base radio (On Blue Mtn) all the time so they must use a satellite office for that area.

There is a F&G office on Wilson Way in Stockton.

That's interesting... I got the .235 from Kelty's CA book, which shows it on Black Mountain, PL 94.8. But his 2001 Golden Gate book has Mid Peninsula there on that freq also, with two output tones, 123.0 and 203.5.

And now looking at the FCC database, both agencies have 151.235 repeaters licensed on Black Mountain, Mid Peninsula on WNVC239, and State of Calif on WPAC797. Go figure.

Anyway, he has the DWR 151.205 repeaters with 136.5 on Diablo; 123.0 on Sunol Ridge, and 156.7 on Mount Zion.
