There are a number of FirstEnergy licenses related to the STARNet system that contain frequencies which were never implemented. Nothing unusual about it from that perspective, and btw a license from 2020 is hardly "new".Interesting, the frequencies on the FE license appear to be different than on the state license. I haven't had an ability to test those frequencies yet but I'll be back that way this afternoon and will take a stab at trying to get some sort of transmission. I'm working on some info for some other NXDN and DMR systems in the county as well and will pass that along when I get it all compiled.
Heard a unit call as Golf 11 (G11) on the DCNR talkgroup. Any idea what park or agency that is?
Since PSP is encrypted on Phase 2, we should not be able to hear any audio when they transmit...but I do.
Using a 996P2, I see the rcvr lock onto a channel and nothing is heard.
But sometimes I hear sound what almost sounds like inverse speech scrambling.
The 996P2 isn't designed to decode encryption so what am I hearing?
Has anyone else heard this?
More than likely the scanner missed the encryption flag in the data and it’s passing the audio without any decryption.
It's not decrypting the signal, it's just not realizing right away that it's encrypted and it's supposed to mute the speaker. My BCD436HP does that sometimes.Since PSP is encrypted on Phase 2, we should not be able to hear any audio when they transmit...but I do.

Is there a setting so they don't mute the audio for encryption? I have a 996P2 also and quite often when I have it running through my computer filters it cleans up the audio so I can understand 30 - 50% of it.

You have a filter that decodes encryption? I’d like the make and model number please.
Defeating encryption is against the law!
