More info...

New CAD
Deployment/utilization of AVL (vehicle locators) for dispatch (may result in unusual units being dispatched)
(slight?) changes in box areas
Modified dispatch types (type of call and response level/units)
Some fewer verbals (modified use of SMEs for some units)
Will probably notice changes in some unit designations

New radios should start rolling out soon as part of the new radio system (but no change over planned for several years, obviously)

Some of this may be obvious and heard and other things not so much...

The changes are a bit more than “slight”....

Do tell Chuck! :D

I'm guessing that some previously "politically acceptable" box area assignments have now been changed (i.e. some stations lost territory because other stations have long been closer to those areas).

I haven't studied the whole county but from what I've seen on the west side -

1 - With AVLS, box areas will be considered administrative - units will be dispatched based on location.
2 - Wholesale changes to the box numbering scheme
3 - Adjustments to areas based on travel time (ie 28 loses area to 4, but gains area from 5)

Changes appear to be in progress (probably all night). Units are making verbal statuses... In fact, I just heard "Medic 33 Bravo" provide their status....

Dispatches sound a bit different (sounds like the order of the dispatch information isn't the same) - could be because they are in transition or most likely because they are running off of the new CAD.....

Box 40-43 ?

E71 dispatched M/A into PG County - sounds like it took a while to dispatch on the AA side - E71 was calling and responding before the verbal dispatch (but they do monitor PG dispatch so this probably isn't anything new)... new things take time.....

Box area 28-4 used to be over near Stillmeadows/Pioneer City if I recall -

They just dispatched a call for the 28-4 and it seemed to be a dispatch address off Odenton Rd which was previously the 28-19 area.... If I got the right, that's a big change....

28-15 box now 28-11?

Troymail -

Definitely some interesting changes!

I think 33 had two ALS units that might be why one might is "Bravo"

It seems like dispatches are now - Box Area and Address first.

Going through some recordings

At 1 AM Fire Alarm went on Condition Red/Condition Yellow. No tones.

7:03 - Off Condition Yellow, Staying on Condition Red. SME's will work.Must Monitor by Portable Radio.

----
Police Side:

2:34 AM - Preparing to Go Live with the New CAD.

2:46 AM - All Officers Log Off EnRoute Mobile.

2:51 AM - Roll Call of Logging Off EnRoute

3:27 AM - Log into New EnRoute Mobile.

Yup - as I understand it, the use of the term "Paramedic" (meaning a unit with 2 ALS providers) is gone so stations with 2 ALS are now 'Medic <station number>' and 'Medic <station number> Bravo'.

Indications are that the box area changes include (among other things?) some sort of "even" and "odd" scheme (i.e. even means turn left out of the station, odd means turn right out of the station and/or odd boxes are to the north and even to the south, etc.).

Definitely some big changes...

BWMC was always 26-7A now it is 26-15

Previously Sunset Beach 13-3 is now 13-01

13-12 is now Notley Rd/Chesterfield. 13 NEVER had high numbers like that. I think that used to be 13-5 or about that.

It will take some time getting used to the new dispatching procedures.
Box Area, Address, Units, Type of Call, Tac Channel.

And not hearing the map coordinates anymore....

Currently a Working Fire in 31's Area. BC-1 requested Working Fire Dispatch (WFD). On the WFD, Fire Alarm dispatched BC Air Flex 2.

First time I have ever heard BC Air Flex units dispatched for an incident in the county.
