Silent Key
Originally they planned for Volunteer Chiefs to run as safety officers. I have never heard it on the radio, are they still planning to do that or did they decide not to do it?
I think that's still in the works....

Hearing "Medic-Engine 41" today, just temporary or is it permanent?
Seems that they have stoped the 7AM special information broadcast listing all the units out of service. The list must be too big to put over the radio![]()
Stumbled across a RFP from AA county earlier today looking for a consultant to define and build a new P25 compliant system for the County. The contract was to have started for the winner of the contract o/a November 1 and be done in several phases. The phases appear to be expected to last 6 months (assess), 3 months (design), ~1 year (procure), and 1 1/2 years (implementation).A bit unrelated, but two questions:
1. P25 ever going to happen on FD channels?
2. Do current FD channels seem scratchy to everybody? I always have full signal strength anywhere in the county, but the scratchiness is omnipresent and annoying. Is this caused by the multicast nature of the system?

The County is on an accelerated schedule to deploy the new radio system in advance of
End-of-Life technical support challenges that occur for significant portions of the system

ARINC is not licensed by Motorola to sell APB equipment to Public Safety in the US.
At about 920, Fire Alarm went on Condition Red. Noticed a lot of static again on 154.01. Not sure if the condition red is related to that?
1054: Fire Alarm is off of Condition Red "But due to radio maintenance, all stations must monitor Alpha on Portable Radios."
Paging (154.01) is barely detectable in Linthicum. I'm guessing the only tower transmitting is Millersville.
