Does anyone know why CHP Air-71 and Air-37 were in/around Sacramento today/tonight?

Head Air-71 in the mid-afternoon contacting Sac on the CHP-Black saying trouble contacting Chico on the CHP-Brown, staying on the Black, then saying they would be turning back and heading to Executive for fuel. Unknown what/where after that.

Around 2330 hours heard CHP Air-37 on the Air-to-Air 132.125 saying they were over Elk Grove, unable to get any 800Mhz traffic, only VHF/UHF. Sac PD Air-1 said they would let them know if anything occurred.

Edit: 0017 CHP Air-37 stated they would be landing at Auburn for the night.

I don't know if this is related, but Wednesday around 11:00 a.m San Joaquin S.O. responded to some type of 211pc in Acampo. Two vehicles were involved and they stopped at least one. Sounded like it may have been a marijuana grow robbery as the five suspects were armed, had bullet proof vests on, and had a u-haul truck (which was stopped n/b 99). So...this may be a follow up to that. BTW I saw no mention of this in the news, so maybe holding off on the info until all suspects in custody.

I found the story in the Lodi press. The day was Wednesday, not Tuesday as reported.

Five arrested after stealing marijuana in Acampo

Five suspects were arrested by the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office on suspicion of home invasion and theft of two mature marijuana plants, as well as an unknown amount of processed marijuana. Their identities have not been released.

At about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sheriff’s deputies responded to a call regarding a home on the 25200 block of North Suttenfield Road.

Deputies said they discovered five to six suspects with guns and bulletproof vests had entered the residence. According to police, the suspects grabbed the marijuana and fled in two different vehicles, a brown Ford pick-up truck and a mid-sized U-Haul truck.

Deputies in the area located the U-Haul truck at Kennefick and Collier roads. Inside, Sheriff’s deputies said they found three handguns — one reported stolen — two bulletproof vests and three machetes.

The pick-up has not been located, but the San Joaquin Narcotics Task Force is investigating the case.

Nobody was injured during the incident.
