Over the last couple of days from my monitoring location in Westport, I've logged some a significant reduction in frequency use on CLMRN site 3-13, aka “Troop G Simulcast”. Since about mid-day June 11th, I’ve logged zero Phase 2 voice transmissions on site frequencies 769.53125, 770.08125, 770.58125 and 771.23125. (By comparison, in the month of May, I logged a fairly even distribution of phase 2 transmissions across the 8 timeslots on these frequencies… maybe about 35% less phase 2 usage on 769.53125 which was still logging phase 1 traffic that month.)

I’m not missing phase 2 calls and I’m still seeing plenty of phase 1 transmissions on site frequency 771.78125 so that largely eliminates an RTL issue on my end. I’m also now logging a small amount of phase 2 traffic on site frequency 853.5000, where I haven’t previously seen phase 2 traffic prior to June.

So, from my observations, it would appear since two days ago that the entire phase 2 traffic load of the “Troop G” site is currently being provided by only 6 timeslots and entirely on frequencies in 800 MHZ (852.2, 852.5875 and 853.5). (This is half the number of timeslots available in May, by comparison.)

I don’t log control traffic channel traffic at a low enough level to speculate if there are any “bonks” being experienced by subscriber units due to the reduced capacity, but with such a significant reduction in timeslots, it seems plausible traffic is getting rejected during prime time.

My uneducated guess is either repeater maintenance (planned or unplanned) on the four 700 MHZ frequencies or maybe a frequency “restack” on the site. But I’m totally guessing.

Anybody who’s in-the-know have any insight they can share?

Turns out I can't read my own data correctly. There are four (not just three) frequencies carrying phase 2 voice traffic. 853.2 has also been carrying a small amount of traffic on the G-site recently so there are 8 (not just 6) slots available. So not as drastic a reduction on slots.

It also turns out this phenomenon existed the entirety of June 6th through June 10th.

Is there any phase 1 traffic on CLMRN ?
According to the DB Stamford is still Phase I. They have their own site. Maybe they can roam on onto the the G Simulcast and that is the traffic begin seen. I'm not in the area, so just speculating.

As noted, Stamford is Phase 1 and some of their TG's are either nailed up or frequently roam to G Simulcast (eg FD Dispatch, Sanitation). Region 1 UASI talk groups are still phase 1. (Plenty of older radios still out there that were part of the original UASI grant from FEMA.) Its use is shrinking but phase 1 is still alive.

Shows currently there are 864 TG assigned to the Troop G system and 11,158 Radio Ids

Anyone know if Troop G is strictly on the G Simulcast or can they roam over to Stamford. It appears they have a site on the Simulcast over that way.
