On my SDS100 I am trying to test my close call reception I am transmitting on my FRS radio and one of my 900 Mhz frequency hopping license free radios and I am pushing the talk buttons on my radios to test them and the bar for that frequency band spikes on the SDS100 when I transmit but the scanner won't detect the frequency on close call is there any fix for that issue in the scanner?

it should get the FRS unit, but not freq hopping stuff.
try walking through a mall and try that.

Interesting why it doesn’t work with the frequency hopping stuff… Is it just a case of the scanner not being quick enough to recognize it as an active frequency before it hops to a new frequency? I believe the OP did mention he sees a spike on the band when he transmits. Maybe a minimum transmit time requirement the scanner needs to see on any given frequency before it calls it a legitimate hit?

I can pick up the 900 MHz frequencies from my FHSS radio when I key up but it just won't play audio transmission but that is normal for an FHSS radio since they can't be heard on a scanner the voice traffic in understandable format but you can pick up the frequency for those.

Update
I went into Srch/CloCall Opt and into filters and turned filter off
I went into Global Auto Filter and set it to Auto
turned on Close Call only mode and keyed up each radio separately and I got hits on the SDS100
Is that normal for an SDS100 scanner to behave that way when trying to use close call or would it need a firmware upgrade?

Myself, I would be very surprised if it did work on the FHSS unless the hopping were so slow to not be very effective.

It may have been the firmware I had in that was a bug that stopped close call from working properly I had the very first version installed after the waterfall update 1.03.02 Sub /1.23.01 Main (12/21/2023)
and I updated to the newest firmware 1.23.15 Main (03/24/2025)
and it seemed to help now.
