• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I'm just starting to get involved with this, & my radio will be arriving next week, but what I've learned so far is that the owners of these systems don't want their information given out without their personal permission due to hackers. So you need to contact the owner of a TRBO system close to you & ask for his permission to get on his system. GARY N4KVE

Hi - You mention you want the UCALL and UTACs. Counting both direct and repeated flavors, that's only 8 frequencies. Why wouldn't you simply program the radio yourself? You obviously have the software since you'll be using it to write the codeplug to the radio, right?

(Sorry, I'm not trying to be a wise guy here. Maybe I misunderstood your original request?)

PM me your email and I'll build you up a quick file. It's got UCALL/UTAC, Federal Incident Response, & Federal Law Enforcement Interop. Let me know what model radio, or I'll just build it up on a UHF codeplug and you can drag and drop into your own file.

Looks like trumpetman is going to come through for you, but in the future if you need a codeplug, try checking "The Codeplug Supersite" ... use Google to find the URL. They have a repository of all sorts of codeplug files there. I'm not posting the direct URL because I am unsure of RR's stance on it. I think it's an OK site in the admins' eyes, but I'm not willing to risk getting in trouble for linking to it.

We have no issues about asking for codeplugs. And AFAIK we don't have any issues with that site. I believe they are just as strict as we are on copyright. But I haven't been there in awhile.

Codeplugs are fine. It's the requests for free copyrighted software that get people in trouble.

CPSS is an awesome website. I've been able to get a head start on some codeplugs for radios I still have to wait a few weeks to get my hands on. The bummer is that rarely is it a useful or built up codeplug with valid frequencies setup unless you make a request (which can usually take a few weeks before people upload the requested file.
