Now, I have all my regular (non trunk) frequencies/channels in the Quick Save Group as regular analog NFM channels and a few digital, 36 in total.
I have a trunk group of 6 851 MHz channels labeled 'Simulcast/MetroRail'.

Is there any way I can either merge the two groups or add/activate scanning of this trunk group without jumping thru hoops?? I can have
one or the other scanning, but not both. I'm using ProScan.

You cannot directly combine your conventional frequencies into a trunked system. You can, however, include your "Quick Save" conventional channels in a system that is part of the same programming file used for your trunked system.

If your "Quick Save" system is already part of the same file used for your trunked system, why not simply rename it to something more specific than 'Quick Save"

As Doc has noted, they can be in the same programming file, with the same quick key, or with a separate key.

I'll look into this, I'll re-study this.
I do have that so called 'Easy to read' manual, but I haven't found that any 'really' easier to read than the Uniden manual. Many portions seem to be a C&P with some modification. I can see why there are so many of these 'digital wonders' that are being offered for sale here. There isn't a week that 2 or 3 (and more) are listed in the classifieds.

Ok, I set both entries (see the pic in the OP) Quick Key to #1, but I don't see what to do next. How do you set those (enable) to both scan at startup?
I do see the procedure for the 'Start Up Key', but that's not the same thing, correct?
Both manuals have the same text for both of these functions (the Easy to Read just C&P the procedure from Unidens manual).
What am I missing?

What am I missing?
It says,
"The Startup Configuration option lets you quickly and automatically lock and unlock systems based on how you assign your startup keys. Simply hold down a number key (0-9) while powering on the scanner, or while the opening screen is displayed, "

Are you holding down the startup key? Did you program a startup key number?

I have a 996P2 with the DMR upgrade. Most of my listening at home involves conventional analog and DMR. The DMR I'm listening to is not trunked, so I can put the DMR frequencies in an analog system and it still decodes them just fine. You'll probably have to make up 2 systems, 1 for your trunked stuff and 1 for your analog stuff and scan them both. Takes longer to scan, but I think that's the way to go. Not quite sure how else to go about it. You should be able to assign them the same quick key. Not sure how that works with your "Quick save" feature though.

Ok, I found nothing anywhere in either manual stating that and that was after going thru both twice.

If you assign a Start Up Key there is an increased chance it will be (de)selected and cause even more confusion.

Personally I would just add the same Quick Key (as was mentioned) and change the System and Group name to Niagara Frontier Conventional (or as much as fits)

I have NEVER used start up keys. Turn on the radio and enable the systems you want, unless they are already enabled. Simple as that. Don't overcomplicate it.
I have not used Start Up Keys in quite a long time. But back in the later 2000's & early 2010's, I did use them on a regional trip I took quite often.

This was for a trip of around 125-140 miles, from my residence in Dallas, to parts of Stephens County, which is west of the DFW area. Back then, before the advent of database scanners (beginning with the HP-1), my 'grab & go scanner' was one of my 396XTs. I used 3 startup keys: 1, 2, & 3. For an occasional trip farther west to Abilene (a little under 200 miles), I had a startup key 4.

I did not have a GPS, and, for that matter, a number of my systems were manually created & lacked the location details needed to use a GPS.
Start Up Key 1 systems included those I could monitor while traveling west through Dallas & Tarrant County. I would reboot the scanner, and holding down the ! to access those systems.

On the west side of Tarrant County, near the Parker County line. I would reboot the scanner & use startup key 2. That turned off the metro area systems & enabled those that I could hear driving along I-20 to my destination.

Once I arrived, I would reboot again, using key 3. That disabled the key 2 systems & activated those I could hear in that vicinity,

When returning back home, I would switch to the key 2 systems when getting on I-20, then to Key 1 when getting back to the DFW metro area.

For systems that I wanted on at all times, such as the Texas DPS channel plan, no key was used, & it was scanned regardless of which startup key was active. For other systems that were monitorable in more than one trip segment (but not all of them), you need to duplicate the system, using the startup key for the segments where it was monitorable.

The downside of startup keys is that there is not a quick & easy way to clear all the keys & resume scanning all systems. You either have to manually edit each system to re-enable it, or wait till back home so that the original programming file could be sent to the scanner again, leaving all systems enabled until the next time the startups were utilized.

For the GRE/Whistler scanners, you could mimic much the same effect by programming trip segments into specific V-folders.

For the current crop of Uniden database scanners, you can simply split segments into Favorites lists if no GPS is available. As already noted, you can accomplish similar results with judicious use of Quick Keys.

Neither do I. But I was trying to make a suggestion that helps, since the OP doesn't completely grasp the concepts.

Hopefully his issues will be resolved.
I don't "grasp the concepts" because of the overly complicated process to do most anything, with those manuals adding to the confusion! Including that supposed "Easy to read" version which is nothing but a C&P of the Uniden manual with the same mistakes and incomplete information..
As I said before, this is exactly why there are so many of these being sold here. Not everyone is a rocket scientist/ software engineer!

I assigned Quick keys as #1 for both entries (see the OP as to the two 'groups' or whatever you want to call them). I didn't initally assign Start-up keys. I powered off, then held down #1 and powered back up waiting for it to take. It didn't, I got that dreaded "Nothing to scan" message. The line "S0" had a asterisk.
I managed to undo that mess, so I'm back to square one.

Are you talking about changing the 1st entry names in that tree to Niagara Frontier for both levels?
