your cell phone should see the public spot too, its a 2.4 G channel. they are always titled "Xfinity WiFi"
i don't even have a gateway listed, but i have that button on my account. it does nothing though, because the button is scripted to access those devices.
MAoC was activated in September, IIRC for Comcast devices. regardless, that MAoC hotspot is ONLY on their rented equipment, Comcast will BURY those two girls in less than a day, and more than likely burn their account too for the hassles. they could even give them the dreaded "Black Flag" on the address. they may NEVER get decent internet again until they move.
launching a lawsuit for bogus reasons against a ISP.... not a good move. they have many ways to ruin your reputation.
those status flags on addresses.... they share that data. neighbor of mine got caught years ago "boosting" his WAN Speeds, and the ISP ( Comcast ) found out..... ooops.... Black Flag, he moved out a year later, someone moves in..... they tried to get internet, denied..... by 3 ISP's - Dish "Hughes" NET, Comcast and ATT. husband was gawking to me one day about it, so i told him to check the address with one of the ISP's and he found exactly what i thought. they saw the Black Flag on the address. so i told him how to prove it was not the same person at the address. Comcast cleared the flag as they were the ones who issued it. they got net the next week from Comcast.
