No worries. I'm on the wrong end of the state for that one, although I do travel to the KCMO area, since my daughter and granddaughter live there. I'll add it to my scan list for when I visit there.

Have been trying to do some tracking of this system and would like to start a discussion in case anyone else out there has info they can add.

I have been working on this for a while also!
Let's compare:

Here's what I have, several caveats:
- All are DMR, most heard freqs have talkgroups in the 600,0000 range, like 6100001, some in the 2000000 eg, TG 2001165
- I have logged over 100 TGs, 90% are 600,0000 series
- 95% of all RIDS stay in one TG, I have tracked a few RIDs on multiple TGs
- RIDs relate to a "home" tg for example TG 6103004 has radios 5103019, 5103027 etc
- I am in Joplin, about 150 miles from KC and do not hear these daily only on...
- SUmmer tropo openings bring in many of these
- I do visit KC occasionally and record on my TRX-2
- the "KC-1" and "KC-12" etc. is just my number in freq order of heard/logged freqs that have same style of TGs. Some clearly are Commenco, some I cannot find a license and may be leased freqs.S1 S2 and CC are slots and color codes. All mostly plain, no CCs above 1 or 2
- If a freq is listed on a Commenco (Cmnco abbrev) license but I have not heard it yet, "nh" means not heard
- unfortunately, the info from the spreadsheet does not line up below - RR does not take space padding :(

I also have a monster Spreadsheet with what TGs have shown up on what freq and what RIDs on what TG
Here are the heard and licensed but not (yet) heard Freqs. I do NOT know Logical numbers, only using TRX2 not DSD (yet)

So the "overarching" system is called MotoNet?
And the Moto shops affiliate with that to make interop/wide area?
I had wondered if St Joe was part of the system, thanks for these notes!

Madison County Update

Here's an update for Madison County (at least from my point of view).

Its seems that for the DMR side of things has the following agencies using it :

Fredericktown PD (even though I was told that they were encrypted. I hear them in the Clear)
Frederctown School District
Madison County EMS

I was told by one of the Cherokee Pass VFD members that They were DMR Capable. But since the Marquand VFD was also using the same repeater. So they are not using it at the moment.

I would like help from some of the members who may be living in the area or be monitoring Madison County for help on Id'd some of TGIDs and UIDs for the above agencies.

Also does anyone has a list of Rig types and rig number (ie Engine 1,etc) used by either Cherokee Pass or Marquand VFDs ?

That all for the moment. When I get some more info. I will pass it along.

Big thanks for all the help.

Commenco, Midwest mobile Net 153 and TBS electronics Net 133 ( Topeka and Manhattan ) are all together in one big roaming system.

Most of the Licensed Freqs on a tower do not match up with what is on each active site.

this system is a pain to find do to that, I used DSD and searched for active channels with the site number i was looking for.

This is good info everyone. I’m glad I got this conversation going. One thing I keep seeing on systems like these is the use of unlicensed frequencies in the 454 MHz paging range. Seems to be popular with these companies to grab from them to fill in extra frequencies when needed.

454.1750 coming in quite strong here in southern Johnson County KS. Sounds like it's the overall control frequency for that range given here. 100% decode rate at 67 RSSI, but not getting any activity... yet.

It normally decodes well for me up here in the northland but not today the 450-460 band is going nuts, I can't get it to decode much, Site 4 and 5 are doing fine.

454 MHz is not unlicensed - do you know how to look up the Part 22 data on the FCC site?

Yes, thank you. Wrong wording. It’s licensed but differently than the other frequencies at those sites.

To sort of give a starting point to collaborate Here is what I have so far. This has all been monitored from the KCMO/KCK area near Riverside.

Forgive me for chiming in. I'm:
(1) an interloper -- I live in Ohio and know nothing about KS/MO
(2) always curious about wide area TRBO systems
(3) into creating Google maps of licenses / locations associated with said wide area systems

I'm curious if you have the capability of obtaining site neighbors from the sites you can hear (likely using SDR# + DSDPlus or FMP+DSDPlus with a dongle or airspy). To make the question more brief, do you have the capability of monitoring with SDR software and an RTL dongle, or are you using a scanner to monitor.

I ask because the neighbor site information broadcast on the control channel is often very handy to have, when it is being broadcast and when the listener has the capability to monitor the control channel with an applicable program such as DSDPlus.

From the reports many of you all posted here, along with looking up frequencies / FCC licenses / mapping locations / looking at site neighbors advertised on sites, below is what I suspect thus far. Take it with a grain of salt, from an outsider who is relying upon information that may not be totally accurate as of Jan 2018.

The coverage maps I've seen a little, depending upon whether it's Commenco or MWRS. So far it looks like about 46 sites (only 45 listed on the MWRS map, but the Eagleville site would be 46).

24 MARTINSTOWN
33 TRENTON
35 KING CITY
40 BRUNSWICK

43 JAMESON
46 EAGLEVILLE

Milan / Mercer / Trenton were determined based upon site neighbors that they were reporting as well as neighboring sites reporting those three sites as neighbors. The noted frequencies that people posted here for those sites were on multiple licenses. It's a very good bet that the sites are as I have listed them, but if not then perhaps Milan, Mercer and/or Trenton may be mixed up.

I have a Google Map I'm not quite ready to share yet -- it'd be confusing, since i have licenses for COMMENCO, MWRS, TBS ELECTRONICS and TFMCOMM (since they all have one or more sites in areas listed on the map). But I will make it available sometime soon as long as a text file I've made up of information I've compiled here and from FCC records. Shucks, I'll share the map now. But if you don't like it, just don't look at it :) It is confusing. A few notes about the map:

  • I think that TFMCOMM may also have a couple of sites involved here, or there may have been some deal where some of their licensed sites/frequencies could be used as part of the system. Then there is TBS Electronics, Commenco and Midwest Radio Service.
  • Green sites are sites I feel most confident about
  • Yellow sites I feel pretty confident about, but not as confident as the green sites
  • Red sites (irrespespective of whose licenses are shown) are sites I think are likely part of the system or could be part of the system.
  • Blue sites are just other trunked licenses that those companies have.
  • Blue balloons are just other trunked licenses that those companies have - but the licenses do not have TRBO emissions designators listed on them.

Google Map: https://goo.gl/m5FKy8

I am going to work on the google map this week in an effort to make it more readable / sensible for anyone that might use it.

I'll try to check this thread periodically for an updates that would allow to make some more definitive guesses about the sites.

That’s really good work! To respond to your question about site neighbors, I’d say yes. I use DSD+ often to get detailed info about a site that I use to help track it down. Mostly color codes, how many frequencies are at a site so I know how many to look for, and neighbors. That’s the starting point and then I search FCC licenses and try to determine the rest.

Good deal! DSDPlus is such a useful tool. If you get a chance, please post neighbor information for any sites that you can monitor. It may or may not be helpful to know at this point, but I figured I'd ask. And thanks for posting info. Things are pretty stagnant where I live, and I rarely get any interest out of what's around me to monitor. That's why I end up jumping into discussions about systems in states nowhere near me.

IS "communications Equipment Holdings" the same as Commenco" 461.825 does not show up on a MW or Commenco license, but on Communications Equip."

Also, 463.2625 had some of the same 600,0000 series TGs on it but I can't find a license

Same with 464.6375 - no likely license but same TG series
