OK guys here is the deal.
1. The freqs in the DB are correct.
2. The FB site is the only one that re-banded.
3. San Pat rebanded and those freqs are correct in the DB.
4. San Pat turned off the Pro Voice for now.
5. Kleberg is good to go as well. I do not know their Pro Voice status.

Thank you LarryN for the update I really appreciate the info. I know Bbedsole does too!. Larry, do you have an idea what they have been doing these last couple of days with the disappearing control channel?

P7100 or M7100

As I mentioned to Gus earlier on Facebook, we (Channel 6) were told by a guy at the Police Department today that our department issued radios from 15-20 years ago are no longer able to be programmed to the new digital system.

We were advised to go ahead and look into buying a P7100 or M7100 radio, and they would then program it for us (probably a VERY limited number of channels; not cool).

What's still not clear is exactly what type of digital system this is. After a little internet research, it's my understanding that those models are capable of being used on a variety of systems... P25 digital conventional, P25 trunking, ProVoice Digital Trunking, DES Encryption, AES, and Analog. To me, this means it's POSSIBLE that a newer digital scanner (Pro-106 from Radio Shack?) might do the trick.

Anyone else want to speculate on possible solutions?

If they are using an EDACS system, the only digital voice it would be is ProVoice. Right now, it seems people are reporting that ProVoice is sparingly used, so an analog scanner that is reband-friendly would probably work and be cheaper by an order of magnitude over a P7100. I would recommend though getting something along the lines of either the Pro-106 or PSR-500 which will give you P25 capability as well, and improved EDACS trunking. No scanner will do ProVoice at the moment, so it makes me wonder how much digital traffic the PD uses to even suggest that y'all should have to buy a rather expensive radio.

Dark

Yeah, according to the Harris website, there are only about 5 radios that fit with the EDACS ProVoice plan.

Here's the weird part... it wasn't just the PD that was dead silent during the brief "dark periods" early Friday and late Thursday.

NOTHING was audible, which was very strange. Airport employees, animal control officers, the fire department, EMS, the school district, marina patrol, sheriff's department, constables, and a few small surrounding cities ALL use the same system, and they were dead quiet too.

So it was a systemwide change, not just police officers flipping a button to go ProVoice.

Hmmmm.

Issues again

Well it looks like the City System is having issues again. The officers from the Charlie District were reporting problems with their handheld radios. The car radios were working great.

The Bluff System is up and working well but I cannot pick up the Shoreline control channel at all.

The dispatchers were telling the officers that they needed to go down to an office down town and have their radios reprogrammed.

Any one have any insight as to what's going on?

Here is some info that I got from one of our members. He was using Unitracker and picked up an extra chanel (LCN16) when the Shoreline site went down last week. He confirmed that Jet and Special Services are in PROVOICE. Eventually the LEO groups will be also in PROVOICE. I am sure that that will not happen either until the Second Coming or when the radios are obselete and nobody else is using them.

On a side note there is a large area 700/800 system planned for the region that might connect Houston/SA/Austin/Corpus using and expanding the LCRA infastructure. This is many many moons down the road. I think that we will all be dead before that happens. But this is the perfect excuse to justify a 700 capable scanner to the wife.

New Controll Channel

Okay,

Hope this helps.

I was scanning around on my lunch trying to get the Shorline System to work again. I stummbled onto a controll channel, 854.3875. Did not have that listed anywhere so I thought, why not. Well guess what. Plug that frequency into LCN 1 and low and behold, the Shoreline System is trunking again on my scanner.

I don't know if this will be a permanent thing, but so far, I have been listening to the system for about an hour and it is trunking fine. Cant wait to get home and throw on the UniTrunker and see if this is the "new control channel" for the system.

Voilet/Robstown Tower

Thanks Tejedor,

Putting 854.3875 In my LCN for the Shoreline Tower has fixed my Shoreline Tower problem. Does anyone have a fix for the Violet/Robstown Tower.

For Violet / Robstown

I am looking at information from the 800MHz Transition Administrator and they are showing another frequency I have never seen before for that system. It is 854.7125. See if that works on the Violet system. I am at work and way away from it so I can't test to see if it works.

If it works please let me know so I can program it in as a fix for that site.

Hope this all helps.

OK, looks like on site 1, the Robstown/Bluntzer site LCN-9, changed to 857.0875, for the Shoreline site LCN-10 is now 854.3875, on Shoreline at least one of the other freqs has changed or one has been added because my radio misses some hand-offs

I had no luck on the Violet Tower putting 854.7125 as for the control channel.

New Frequencies?

I have done some more poking around and have found 1 other new frequencies for the Shoreline System.

It is 854.1125. The other new one is the 854.3875 and that is the new control channel.

I have been listening to the 854.1125 and there is local PD and other traffic on that channel.

Now if someone could get the LCN for 854.1125 and the old control of 856.4375 we will all be happy scanner people again.

857.0875 is another control channel that somewhat is working on Violet but I don't think it working properly still testing it in LCN16 at work not able to dedicate straight time on my scanner..We will figure this out...
