I recently purchased a Uniden BCD260DN (yes I knew it was an analog scanner) & I began programming it for Cranston, Warwick, Cumberland PD & Bristol County public service departments. I also have a BCD996P2 & I noticed that on both units I cannot receive Cranston PD. It appears to be encrypted. Is this correct? I'm almost sure that I heard them recently on their 482 Mhz band in the clear. I love the SVC search function on this unit & I'm somewhat surprised at the high price tag for an analog model ($340).

Cranston PD are listed as P25 conventional, unencrypted. You won't be able to pick them up with a 260DN but should be able to get them on the 996p2

Though they appear to be simulcast across two sites so simulcast distortion may be a factor if you're within range of both towers

When they first switched to the 482 band I used to pick them up on the old tuneable TV's around UHF CH 13-14. :)
