Crossover for MAC

Curious. I never knew Crossover existed. Has anyone used this to try and run radio programming software for windows on their macs? Thanks!

Crossover (and solutions similar to it) has been discussed here, as well as here. It's in this thread, and was reported to be working in 2020 in this post.

I don't natively run mac OS on hardware (I have it virtualized several ways), and I don't know your level of comfort with computers, so YMMV...but it certainly seems possible.

I use VMWare on an older MacBook, and want somethnig for my desk top but no mood to pay Microsoft so much just to run radio programming software LOL

You don't need to pay microsoft anything. Even an unactivated version of an outdated OS will still run radio programming software. The features they take away during trials or hide behind activation have never come between me and a radio I need to push data to. I prefer qemu, personally.

Speaking of VMWare, how do you feel about the shenanigans Broadcom just announced this week?

Wasn't a fan of Broadcom before and certainly not now.

Broadcom ends VMware perpetual license sales, testing customers and partners

Already-purchased licenses can still be used but will eventually lose support.

Agreed. For the last decade (due to hardware & firmware issues), I have actively eliminated Broadcom from every aspect of my hardware, usually physically removing the chips and replacing them other devices. The BS they pull with their firmware is ridiculous. They can eat a bag of dirt.

I have had success running sentinel and other scanner software under crossover, however sometimes the USB ports do not cooperate and the fonts usually look off. Personally I prefer to use Parallels. USB port management is a lot better and have used Sentinel, Arc125, Unication Software, Chirp and CS800D programmer. Whistler software is the only one so far I haven't been able to get to run.
