Thanks!!! Seeing that breakdown makes a lot of sense to me now (and I don't know why it didn't occur to me sooner). I just did a quick check of the data I have on the other Site locations and don't see an wide dispersement of frequencies like those for Site 1 and 6, except for Site 9 South Caanan (northwest corner) which shows a location in West Haven (south central).EricCottrell said:The CT and MA state systems both use Smartzones with Simulcast.
"Site" 1 for South Fairfield County uses these locations:
GREENWICH, REDDING, SHELTON, WEST HAVEN, and WILTON
"Site" 6 for Windham County uses these locations:
BROOKLYN, FRANKLIN, NORTH GROSVENORDALE, STERLING, STORRS, and UNION
So if a unit affiliates with Site 1 then it's talkgroup is simulcast from the locations for site 1. If another unit on the talkgroup affiliates with Site 6 then the network will send talkgroup audio to the locations for Site 6 as well.
What I was thinking would be a way to select an existing Group to use with the System being programmed. That would mean the ability to enter/edit Group settings independently of any System. The UI would need to have a Program Group option in addition to Program System. Any changes made to the Group would be reflected in all Systems that use it.Being able to share Talkgroups between systems would be a handy feature if it can be done with a simple UI. There are some issues that need to be resolved like if the user deletes a TGID is it erased from all systems?
