From what I understand, having a Simulcast system only using one tower would be pointless. Using different different tower locations is where the advantages of the simulcast system happens. To decrease RF dead spots over a desired coverage area. So I don't think Barco is the only location. I just might do some research into this as far as the locations of the Simulcast towers and ride around and see if I can figure them out. They should be located on the FCC license though. Have you looked?

Did a bit of digging and found this document from 2021 when Currituck hired a consultant to audit their old system. Didn't realize they had so many issues with the old system, but I suspect they went with "option 3" and some recommendations in "option 5" (upgrade system to P25 and transmitter site improvements in problem areas). Interesting to see the measured signal levels from various systems and the option to use Chesapeake and Dare's P25 system in the interim. Also interesting to see utilizing VIPER would have cost much more than other options. Anyway, I assume the existing transmitter sites were upgraded and repurposed for the current P25 system.

Thanks for confirming, looks like they indeed kept the old transmitter sites and just upgraded in place. Regardless, reception is improved over their previous system

From what I have experience with, counties have tower sites located on county property and they reuse the same places. Fire stations, dump sites, and whatever. They can reuse the feed lines and antennas depending on the frequencies of the new system and power sources etc. Why reinvent the wheel
