So open a file, no? or...
If you want a database file to open when you start the program, go to the OPTIONS tab, choose STARTUP tab, then check LOAD DATABASE.

Doesn't here, that entry was checked, nothing loads.
I want the program to d/l the frequency list from the radio, but the S/W complaints it needs a database first.

Apparently there isn't any of those entries when the scanner is 'scanning'. There was no drop down box.
I just stopped the scanner scanning and retried the procedure per your post and it magically appeared which I d/l'ed and will post here.
There was nothing anywhere that stated the scanner apparently couldn't be in scan mode which was by default when one turns the scanner on. .

How does one d/l a HTML or a .cvs file here. I tried both and neither is accepted.
Use the "Get Clipboard" function. It works at the group, site, or channel level and not the system level.
1. Click the site or group node on the left side. If it's a new system(in the database) then add the system first and select the correct system type then add a group or site.
2. Click the Get Clipboard button.
3. Open the document and select the info that you want to import
4. In the Get Clipboard window, choose the options then click the button "1. Get From Clipboard Everything".
When I run the program, I keep getting a mostly blank screen. The only 'Startup option that is checked is the 1st entry (by default). How can I get it to load the basics, AKA the frequency list(s) w/o going thru all the hassle of opening a database etc?
The version I have is a older one, I looked over the updates list (yes, I actually 'scanned' thru each update and there isn't any update that included this model in the notes after v19.2. This version is 23.4

You need a database file opened to show the systems. It's not a hassle.
Your post #5 shows a database file opened in the 2nd image. Do like you did before by going to to the Database menu then click on Open then choose the file that was opened before then click the Open button.
If you want the file to open automatically when ProScan starts then go to the Options -> Startup tab and click on Load Database.

The whole process is really simple once you get the hang of it.
I believe I already stated, that entry has been checked, nothing opens when the program runs.
Regarding the versions numbers, the version of ProScan isn't the latest if that matters. The rest was your notes for what was done in each update, if it mentioned this model.
This version is a 'Portable' version (not "installed") that I had from years ago if that matters. When I run the program one of the 'splash' screens show "Loading Database", but nothing shows.

be sure your database file is in the folder where the program writes to. You may want to create a new database, read the radio and save it in that folder. If it doesn't see a file it can't load it, especially if you are using multiple folders/computers/drives

It's not in the same folder, actually it's in another drive (I have four). I'll change that and report back.
The database file does not need to be in a certain folder nor drive. Just go to the Database menu then click on Open. Navigate to the file location then click the Open button.
{edit} I'm not sure about network drives. I'll have to test that.
{edit2} Network drives works for me.
