Have had my 436 for 2 months. Have plugged it in sentinal at least 4 times and always says database it current. Do I just go with it or wipe everything out, reset the 436 and load it? Thanks.

On this pc it says 5 1 2022. On my other pc, it said 7 18 2021. I just updated that one with no problems.

What is it showing as the date in your Sentinels bottom left corner? Like in the pic @RandyKuff posted above?

The database issue has been resolved. New data is being pulled at this time and should be available later today or early tomorrow.

EDIT: Sorry, I thought this was the other database thread. Of course, this answer applies here too.

Hopefully what was done today resolves the op's problem of sentinel saying current for 2 months.

That is unlikely, but three possibilities for not seeing a May 2022 database (be it last week's or newer):

1. Make sure you are using the current version of Sentinel.

2. Make sure you are downloading the DB into Sentinel and writing it to the scanner.

3. Make sure your internet access is working - including FTP.

Wait, you mean you need to connect to the computer and download/write the database? And I thought it did it automatically without wires or internet. Guess you learn something every day, thanks @JoeBearcat

Also keep in mind: just because you download the updated database, your "Favorites" remain as they were. You have to manually update your "Favorite" lists to bring them up to date.

In other words, if your local PD or FD changed frequencies or talkgroups in the new database, you have to go into you Favorite and manually change it, or, do an "Append to Favorite List" with the new info, then delete the old one.

No one said this stuff was easy....

His verbage is kind of deceptive....
He says he 's had the 436 for two months... And tried 4 times to update the database... But doesn't say when he tried to update it...
I'm curious what version his Sentinel shows it to be...

If he's seeing this... And I think he says he is...

DBup.jpg

He's connecting to Uniden's server...
Otherwise you will get a connection error...

Yep, thats it. Am on version 2.2 version 1 for sentinal. Just tried again and getting same message.

Try it tomorrow after 10am your time...
Uniden said they should have the database download fixed by then...

Also agree with @dave3825 's question.... What is your Sentinel showing the database at right now... See picture in post #2...
That's what it should be showing you till Uniden fix's it...

ALL that message is telling you is that - The database in Sentinel that is stored on your Windows computer is up to date. It does not tell you anything all about the version of the database that is stored on the SD card in the 436 scanner. If you have owned the scanner for several months and have not written the database from Sentinel to your scanner, the database on your scanner is probably very outdated and reflects what the previous owner had written to the scanner (which could be a long time ago).

You can go into the MENU system on the scanner and select Manage Database, then click on Information and that will tell you what version is in the scanner.

That message does not show if it can't verify it against Unidens Server...

Unplug your network and see what is does.... You won't see that...

He's trying to download the latest database... But server is pooched...
What's on the scanner at this point is moot...
Can't update the scanner till he downloads the latest in Sentinel...

Or if he doesn't have version 5/1/2022 on the scanner he can load that... I'd wait till tomorrow and get the latest...

One other VERY important thing - If my memory Is working correctly, you had trouble getting PROSCAN to recognize your 436, but later came back and said you got that fixed. I am guessing you then updated your favorites and/or other things stored in the 436 scanner using PROSCAN. If you did update your scanner that way, be sure to READ from the scanner into Sentinel (since it doesn't know what you put on the scanner using PROSCAN) before you write anything back to the scanner including an updated database OR you will likely loss a lot of what you stored on the 436 using PROSCAN.

3/20/22 is last update on the 436.

Database version on sentinal is 5/2/22

Is it possible sentinal is confused with my SDS200? I do verify in sentinal its the 436 hooked up.

Yepper... If he's using ProScan, that changes the way things need to be done...

Same Database is used for both scanners...

The target scanner you set it for only effects the Profile settings, not Favorite lists themselves or the database

I agree, the same database for both, however - did you click on the TOOLS on the top line of Sentinel and change the TARGET MODEL to BCDx36HP?

That might be required to get it to write the database to your scanner. After changing the target type, then do the write to scanner. Also note my above message about Sentinel not knowing what you might have written to the scanner using PROSCAN.
