Most decoding software (depending on specifically what mode you wish to decode) would require a tap from the discriminator. There are a couple of rather rare exceptions - ACARS and MPT-1327 - but pretty much everything else will require this. I don't know if the discriminator already has a tap from the headphone jack.
Probably a better bet is to hack an old scanner. There are NUMEROUS instructions for various scanners on this topic.
