my mom has a uniden digital handheld that she listens to a lot but she is saying it seems like shes not hearing it go off as much and she isn't hearing the Tac channels where they talk back and forth. I programmed it quite a while ago to get the local ems, police/sheriff etc but has there been any recent changes? Possibly needs updated? I could use some help

Have you checked the RadioReference database for changes that have been made since you programmed the scanner?

Note that many public safety agencies are encrypting their radio traffic.

Teach her how to put it in ID SEARCH, and she'll hear more than she could possible imagine.

Model BCD436HP and its been a few months since shes been mentioning it. I can still hear it go off and it shows fire/ems, sheriff, dispatch but is there a difference between hearing the Delaware county sheriff and city police? she says she doesnt think shes hearing police and when they say switch to tac. she really doesn't want to hear a lot more than EMS, police, sheriff, dispatch etc. A guy on here sent me a file from the database a few years ago when i originally programmed it and he had everything blocked except what she wanted to hear. im not real experienced at this. should i do that again?

Muncie has an online scanner feed. You can listen to that to see if you can still their "main" dispatch channels. Their Tac channels are not on the feed, and that's why units switch over to Tac occasionally. The majority of the radio traffic stays on Main, unless they go 'Signal 100 on Main', then non-involved units will switch to using the Tac channel until Main is cleared again.
