I agree with Seamusg. This is by far the best way to go about programming your scanner to monitor the Detroit TRS. It is not only a big time saver, but when you think about all the time that would be spent manually loading in the talkgroups and then alpha-taging all of them, it's well worth it. Thankfully, with Win96 this can be done in seconds v. spending a day or two at it.
If you are not worried about talk groups just program a bank with only the 701 tower freqs. Even without Win96 (which you should have anyway) it should only take 5 minutes or less.
I don't believe that the question dealt with programming the scanner. Rather, just receiving the Detroit trunked system with a Radio Shack radio is a daunting task.
