I have been working out a issue i'm having with the Nevada state NSRS sytem so i decided to do some research. As i was doing some research on San Bernadino county, I found frequencies in the database not in the FCC ULS research by Call sign. I assume i am seeing ULS information. Im just wondering, are the 2 parts of the web site tied together? If not, why not?

thanks

  1. The RR database is independent from FCC. It can be linked to the FCC database if the contributor includes the FCC license, but see "2".
  2. It is comprised of 100% member contributions, and many members do not bother to look up FCC data once they have found and verified the agency.
  3. In a perfect world, every frequency would have an FCC license. However, there are many cases where this has not been done properly. Additionally, I have seen cases where Fire companies have forget/fail to renew, but keep on using the frequency. Some will eventually get caught by FCC.
  4. Doing an FCC search often fails to find legitimate licenses because the location is not close to the user, the name on the license is not obvious wrt to the user, or it is a frequency from a community repeater where the owner rents frequencies, etc, etc.
