Help ive put the system in my 536 i have in hold every so often i see 5 bars pop up for my signal then go away with no voice do i have something wrong or to far away live very close to 295 and 95 split Thanks
I have a 536hp and it does just fine, never had problem and that includes simulcast. For reference I'm in Virginia Beach. How did you program the system? Did you use Sentinel software, or try to do it by hand? This is a simulcast system, so the 536 is not the best radio to use. It's also not very busy atm as far as I can tell and based on other's responses to this thread.
Highly dependent on each individual's situation: monitoring location and system design. And the dirty little secret is many people do not realize that they are missing traffic when entire transmissions are not received.I have a 536hp and it does just fine, never had problem and that includes simulcast. For reference I'm in Virginia Beach.
An interesting thing about Virginia Beach is that it's on ORION, which may not be 100% simulcast. Are you receiving the 700 MHz and 800 MHz freqs equally well, because they appear to be on different sites. I'm wondering if the 700 MHz site is non-simulcast.I have a 536hp and it does just fine, never had problem and that includes simulcast. For reference I'm in Virginia Beach
You must be close i cant hear them iam very close to 295 and 95 split,?Sounds like schools and buses are now on the system, bunch of new channels popping up.
I was in the county to help get user Wink64 squared away, I've heard 2-3 new school TGRPs coming online, Lots of stuff for people to decode what's going on and update the system. One thing I know that is wrong with the DB is they have it as a Ph 1 with an 890NAC, it should be B90h NAC for sure. and it's Phase 2 TDMA fully used. You must be close i cant hear them iam very close to 295 and 95 split,?
Each of the schools has a talk group along with school transportation dept. Have also heard talk at the courthouse.I was in the county to help get user Wink64 squared away, I've heard 2-3 new school TGRPs coming online, Lots of stuff for people to decode what's going on and update the system. Thanks, Man. Just like nothing happened, except new robot-lady voice initial fire/EMS calls. Noticed on top volume 15 with SDS, very low, but that has changed. Have to lower to 10-12 generally. They have been doing a lot of work on tower behind Co. 1 past week.I was in the county to help get user Wink64 squared away, I've heard 2-3 new school TGRPs coming online, Lots of stuff for people to decode what's going on and update the system. Sir i still cant pick them up maybe to far out the county? Any input would be appreciated thanksThanks, Man. Just like nothing happened, except new robot-lady voice initial fire/EMS calls. Looks like even though you're close to the outer fringes of system coverage so you may be situated between two towers & simulcast distortion may be a factor.Sir i still cant pick them up maybe to far out the county? Any input would be appreciated thanks
Yup, textbook example of simulcast distortion. You'd be much better off with a Uniden SDS100 or SDS200 to monitor simulcast systems like thisHelp ive put the system in my 536 i have in hold every so often i see 5 bars pop up for my signal then go away with no voice do i have something wrong or to far away live very close to 295 and 95 split Thanks
Thanks much appreciated ,and yes thats my next move Happy new yearLooks like even though you're close to the outer fringes of system coverage so you may be situated between two towers & simulcast distortion may be a factor.

I think something not right in my programing i have preamp and st1 ant about 25 ft i know my future is the sds200 ,Thank you for your response .On Christmas I happen to pick up Dinwddie Fire/EMS and Police as well, Taken a short video. But I am all way in King William . Every so often I can pick it up. But not on a daily basis.
But not bad considering distance I am from Dinwiddie:
Running Radioshack BNC Antenna on a pole with 30db preamp with SDS 200 Scanner

No problem , glad I could help . I was shocked to hear them from my location on Monday , but I kept watching signal decode , but no audio until early AM. Then I knew it would come in , and then heard ems call , and then Law call .I think something not right in my programing i have preamp and st1 ant about 25 ft i know my future is the sds200 ,Thank you for your response .
