Hi everyone,

While running discovery for conventional or trunked, is there a way to avoid frequencies? I catch a ton of frequencies that are just noise (maybe I don't have the upgrade or it's encoded). I would like to avoid them but I'm unsure how. Any ideas?

Also, in discovery when looking at the runs, are there ways to add them to a favorites list or do you have to add them manually to a favorites list?

When searching a range from one frequency to another, there is no practical way to skip data or other unwanted frequencies or just plain noise/interference. Most of the newer radios have a way to add a desired frequncy with a key stroke or two.

One of the options for a Discovery session is Autostore. That will add the frequency (conventional) or talkgroup (trunked systems) to a Favorites list. Select "compare to database" so that you are not adding items already programmed.

Okay thank you, yeah I didn't know if that was the only way to do it. I didn't know if you could just hand pick them after one by one after listening. Thanks

Or you could log with ProScan, and have a lot more options.

Thanks I might do that I have never used ProScan. Is ProScan and alternative to sentinel? I use sentinel which came with the radio. Would proscan replace sentinel for me or what I still have to use sentinel to?

Sentinel is needed for firmware updates, profile editing, and accessing the full HPDB (Uniden DB) and . ProScan has extra capabilities that I don't believe Sentinel has such as:
  • Import directly from RRDB. RadioReference subscription required
  • Import from the Win Clipboard or from a RR web page. No RadioReference subscription required
  • Google Maps showing all the systems with circles or rectangles
  • Export nicely formatted web page showing any or all (user selectable) the FQK's, SQK's, Number Tags, and systems
  • Multiple Favorites on the same tree which makes it easy to Copy & Paste and Drag & Drop systems
  • Find Duplicates utility
  • Find & Replace utility
  • Update Text Tags utility
  • Versatile Sorting options
  • Copy & Paste and Drag & Drop nodes to other systems and other ProScan instances
  • SDS200 FTP Read & Write using the Ethernet connection

Compare to Database does not work for conventional frequencies on the 436hp or the sds100 it's been broke for a long time

Oh wow I'm going to try that. I hope that works ha! It's been driving me crazy
Okay it worked thanks so much for your help. If I pause the run and then resume the run later I wonder if it will keep all of the same avoids since it's all in the same run

It also doesn't work on the BCD536. The "Log Only New" function doesn't work either on those scanner, at least not for me, but for some reason the european BCD436 called UBCD3600 do have a small working portion of "Only New" working as it mutes the audio after the time-out timer has expired, not so on the 536 and SDS100 that always has full speaker audio and both x36 are using vers 1.26.00 and SDS100 1.10.06 and they all have identical programming.
