Hello Community of Experts - I just acquired a 436HP and added the DMR upgrade. I live in a major metro area and there is plenty of DMR to be heard, hence the paid upgrade. I am using custom search from 451-455 and 460-465 to find and identify DMR frequencies. The problem that I am encountering is that in about 80% of the stops in the search, there is DMR info displayed (CC, slot, etc), but no audio. I have tried adjusting the threshold to 5 and adjusting modulation settings based on other forum discussions, but there is no improvement. I am hoping that these are not all encrypted, but ENC is not appearing on the display. Are these control channels? Are my settings off? What am I doing wrong? I haven't even started to try and monitor trunked systems yet, but I'll probably be back for more help when I cross that bridge. Thank you for any helpful guidance.

If you see CON, CAP or DT3 flash up along with a NET ID and/or Site ID with Color Code then you stumbled upon a control channel (or rest channel if CAP). I'd suggest investing in a Radioreference premium subscription so you can utilize the Frequency Data search to look up each frequency you come across to see if it's identified in the RRDB or utilize the FCC Data search to identify possible stations if not known to the database

Probably. It's control data on one slot but the other slot on that frequency could have a conversation. To be able to scan those frequencies you will need to avoid or delete them from search and instead enter them in a OFT system named "Unknown DMR". If you make one site for each frequency and with the site name entered to displayed the frequency it will be easier to see the frequency if you hear a call.

Then delete that frequency and enter it in another OFT system you name "Active DMR".
If you notice the same TG conversation happen on several frequencies you can enter those frequencies in a MotoTrbo system and run LCN finder on them to make it possible to trunktrack.

You can set search to do Search with Scan to do both search and scan of those systems you have programmed.
