There is at least one thread here where UPMan has said that the hardware in the HP2 is not capable of supporting DMR or Pro Voice. Search around and you'll find it.

You are confusing the HP1 with the HP2. They may look similar, but their insides are surely different.

It may be, but my recollection is that it was a HP2 thread. I must be mistaken.

Bluetooth? My 536 does not have Bluetooth, however, it does have a WiFi dongle!

Maybe I have an older 546. ;)

Sorry, I mistyped. I meant to say WiFi. The only available remote control for the HP-2 is via software and cable. The Siren app distinguishes the 536 by providing a wireless control capability.

Again, I fail to see any equivalency between the two units, with or without Siren.

As a clarification, I made the comment above only because I was being repeatedly misattributed as having posted something I am still pretty sure I never posted. Not to be taken as any kind of hint of things to come.

Or as any kind of hint that things won't come. Or any kind of hint at all.

The HP2 is a good radio, if a bit too expensive. It would serve Uniden well to issue at least one upgrade to the HP2 BEFORE they ask us to shell out hundreds more on an HP3. Good customer relations and such.

Have you not been following the computer and cell phone industry? They build new stuff every year because the consumer wants new! And Uniden is no different. HP-3 Is on the way..

Since the HP-2 already does P25 phase 1 & 2, my guess is that the HP-3 would just about have to be DMR and ProVoice capable and possibly upgradeable to NXDN... for an extra fee, of course.
