Just to update, doing some research looks like the frequencies listed in this Douglas County Public Safety Trunking System, Roseburg, Oregon will be used with the new P25 system.

Definitely and end of an era. Love the way the analog VHF simulcast system sounds. Always make a point to listen to it when I'm in the area. LEO will be encrypted, but the verdict is still out on fire. Fingers crossed.

The VHF simulcast system is getting a upgrade, and fire will remain on it for some time. Talking to a chief with one of the fire depts, they will stay on Vhf. Most of the fire depts in Douglas county don't have the money to upgrade there radio's so it will happen over time. Law will go on the UHF P25 system, but encryption if it happens is year or 2 out. VHF will also be great back up for Law, since new Trunk systems have issues at times lol.

Several things going on in Douglas County.

1. The MPT-1327 system went silent awhile back.

2. A new P25 system is coming online? Since it is using some of the
old MPT-1327 freq's I guess it is DC. No info posted on the FCC
site. Here is what I have found:

Data channels:

460.3875 site 01 (and 453.1750 back and forth)
453.1500 site 03
453.1625 site 06
460.0375 site 07
453.0500 site 08

No voice, just data chatter.
(453.0500/ 453.1500/ 453.1625 & 460.0375 were part of the old
MPT-1327 system)

3. As mentioned by Baker845, they have done something to the VHF
system. Sounds much different and needs more work. LEO are on
Law 2 and Fire is on InterOp for dispatch and Fire 2 for comm's
when I checked earlier.

I was listening to the OpenMHz feed, and it sounded horrible. I wonder if the feed is now in a bad overlap area for the simulcast.

They just, got the system on line yesterday. There still stuff to work out. But, listening to the feed it sounds horrible, but when i listen to the system, on my radio it doesn't sound bad, just sounds like they have the simulcast site timers off a bit.

yeah... it tells me that it's not a Motorola system. Maybe whoever EF Johnson is today? (JVC/Kenwood?).

There's a method that converts the WACN and System ID to a callsign (six digits worth anyway), for example, 92761-E27 converts to WQND29(1). Some manufacturers use that, others use a "manufacturer code" (can't remember the formal/protocol name for it), and others just make stuff up as they go.

This upgrade was given to JVC/Kenwood, so its a Kenwood Trunking system and Kenwood Vhf repeaters.

picture 1 shows what the search shows for 460.3875 and picture 2 is the analyze screen for the same frequency as programmed into a p25 trunked system on my radio. I named it DC p25, all other info is supplied by the radio.

New info posted on the FCC website. Most is about the uhf system. It is showing site info and frequencies. Emission info states P25 Phase 1. Lots to read yet.

I have been watching tests going on the last two days on the sites I can pick up (1,3,7 & 8). Each have a data/ control channel and three channels. No voice heard yet. Each of these sites cycle through their channel's about three seconds each over and over. Always showing TGID: 21 and says "Link". Once and awhile it says Unit ID 65538.
Now maybe I will figure out which sites I am picking up.

So it appears Site 01 is Mount Nebo in Roseburg. Site 03 is Kenyon Mtn. west of Camas Valley (actually in Coos County). Site 07 is Scott Mtn. northeast of Glide and Site 08 is Mount Yoncalla northwest of Yoncalla.

DCMon, be careful about posting transmit PL tones to radio systems. There are some people out there that think they can go on Public safety radio systems and do unlawful things.
