I'm hearing chatter that Downey Fire has turned on their Digital Fire Dept. radio system today.
Any listing for the freq / TG would be helpful.

Thank you all !

Still hearing them on Conv UHF with MDC blips and nothing on the talkgroup they were previously planning on switching to, so I can't confirm a talkgroup #.

I am surprised they didn't join ICI or LA-RICS. Downey is surrounded by LACO and Montebello is already on ICI. Downey PD is on ICI but Downey Fire Dispatch has always had their own dispatch center at Station 1.

That city has always kept their own PD disptach center and fire dispatch center. That means Downey, Santa Fe Springs and Compton will all be digital.

I remember the days when Downey Dispatch dispatched Downey-Santa Fe Springs, Compton, Lynwood and Montebello. Montbello 30 years ago had their own dispatch UHF channel in the 482 mhz range and the rest was on 154.25 and then 154.205 mhz. Old days. haha

So if there is a talkgroup assignment for Downey Fire then they would be joining ICI.

I just heard traffic on 482.250 NAC 601 responding to a TC on the freeway.
It was conventional P25 and not encrypted.

I set the Dispatch and Tactical to search for just digital and will see what we can sniff out. Nice P25 Digital. Wonder what's going to happen to the dispatch channel in VHF 154.205. VHF 154.205 is still dispatching in Analog

Wondering if they are just doing some testing on their Tactical channel in P25. I am hearing full 5 bars in P25. Sounds great

I see Downey is dispatching on 154.205 VHF not their UHF 482.450. UHF has gone silent for now

Most likely the city is in testing phase with P25. Would make sense that all radios on TAC can use P25. Could be a hardware and technical things that has to be worked out for dispatch to transmit in P25 with all of the stations and alert tones and equipment that needs to be installed in the stations and dispatch centers. I am just thinking logical but who knows.

DNY U-2 is full time P25 conventional. U-1 will follow suite in the near future..

Did 482.45 switch at any point? I thought it was only 482.25 Channel 2. Didn’t hear about dispatch channel switching or testing at any point.

I remember when I installed that UHF system back in 2010ish. My how time flies. We kept the station alerting on VHF so they didn't have to replace any of the station hardware. Pages and dispatches were a multi-select of the VHF and UHF resources.

So Downey fire is not dispatching on their UHF high band right now. They are dispatching on their VHF high band on 154.205 and I am not able to hear anything else come in on their dispatch from responding units. But their P25 high band on their tactical is still working just fine though.

Anybody know what is happening. I do know in the past distant they were using 154.25 in the past I was wondering if that is the frequency they are using right now.
