Shame there isn't a user friendly competitor to DSD+, one you don't have to be a computer engineer to figure out how to operate.

If you need Windows, I would buy a retired office PC off Ebay (i.e. Dell Optiplex Micro). There are also micro computers on Amazon with Windows 11 already installed. I was thinking of trying one myself. Stuff it in a closet with an SDR, run an antenna in a nearby window, remote into it. I just get a bit worried about heat since it is fanless

MeLE Reddot Winner Mini PC Overclock4C N100(up to 3.4GHz) Alder-Lake 12th Gen 16GB RAM, 512GB Storage, Mini Desktop Computer, Triple Screen Display, Full Function USB-C on Office Education Home Amazon.com

I find DSD+ very user friendly compared to the other products, and I'm not a computer engineer, just a novice, but with the help of people and past posts here in the forums I've gotten 4 or 5 programs working. So, I can't identify with your comments.

You can always ask questions and get help -- even if you are not in North America and English isn't your first language. I've known of many people who have used Google Translate to communicate help to others. All ya gotta do is ask. Sure, after having had about every question about DSDPlus asked at least 50 times over the years, you might get a snarky response from time to time. But in general people are here to help -- even me.

I've used plenty of past posts on here and, Youtube videos and blog posts elsewhere to get it working through SDR# to decode P25p1, but for whatever reason no luck getting it working with trunking. Oh well.

See post above yours as to why I won't even attempt to ask for help on here any longer. From admins of all people. There's better places to ask for help.

Just out of curiosity, DSD+ decodes P25p1 fine on it's own, I'm listening to my state system as I type this, so why complicate it and go through another program? If it was me I would get one working and then get the other working before combining the two, but I don't understand why people bundle these programs when they don't need to.

That's your choice.

There is no better place to ask for DSDPlus help than on this forum, that's a guarantee. And as I said, we [including and especially me] can be snarky/sarcastic from time to time. But we all do try to help.

If you feel it's so bad that you can't even attempt to ask for help, then you are wanting "babied" and I can't baby anyone. I expect anyone I help to put on their thinking cap and actually try and retain some of the information. It's not an unreasonable thing for anyone to expect in return for helping.

Perhaps DSD FME? Looks to have linux install instructions that may allow you to get going using Homebrew instead, if you're fairly savvy.

Haven't tried it myself but there's an extensive thread here on it:

It is hard to beat DSD+ for data gathering I feel though. What's your goal / what are you trying to do overall?
