Monitoring a TIII system, listen to a few voice calls, then the DSD doesn't go back to the control channel.

My Frequencies file has the list from the RR downloads section for the system.
TIIInonStd,L6,10,1053,420.5875,0.0,0
TIIInonStd,L6,10,1085,420.7875,0.0,0
TIIInonStd,L6,10,1117,420.9875,0.0,0

Is there something else I'm missing? FMP24 sits on the last used frequency, never goes back to the CC. I feel like it's something simple...

You omitted a shot of the smaller window that lists the frequencies being used and which one is supposed to be the CC.

It's a low traffic system, but these are the 2 frequencies, in addition to 1117 - 420.9875.
In addition, when I go to the neighbour site, L6-11, it confirms the CC frequency 1085 - 420.7875

If you want it to sit on a CC all the time even if the signal drops uncheck the Hunt For Lost Control Channels.

There is a way to change the .75 second timer. However I have found that DSD sometimes just keeps ignoring the active CC.

Happens to me a bit on a P25 system. It hangs until another call on the same voice channel.

Are you both on the latest Fastlane or Dsdplus full? Have the same thing happening on a NXDN system and sent video of it to DSDPlus on 12 16 2025 and have not heard back yet. The system follows perfectly DSDPlus full.

DSDPlus does not handle simulcast P25 any better than most scanners, so that could also be an issue.

That there is a load of garbage. DSDPlus handles the decoding of simulcasts just fine, as long as you are using FMP* and DSDPlus rather than some third party injected audio (via audio jack or via SDR# or something).

100% Agree. Most of the P25 systems I monitor are with SDRs with the proper equipment and software. i.e., DSD+ or SDR Trunk. Better than most scanners. DSD+ does a great job decoding DMR and NXDN, which is what I use it for most.

I am using DSDPlus and FMP24. I live within reception range of three simulcast systems. DSDPlus struggles with all of them at times. Decoding is not nearly as reliable or constant as my SDS scanners.

Good deal. Then stick to your scanners. You're the "forensic scannist", so I'll assume that you have ensured that each system you monitor has at least a good 25db signal on all CC/VC for perfect decode, that you don't operate your dongle in the presence of interference (noise from other devices and such in vicinity, USB noise, overload from strong local signals), that there is no drift on your dongle that you haven't adjusted out with the PPM adjustment, and that you are truly meaning that ERR is a regular thing seen in the logging of these sites (versus perfect decodes and audio that you just don't think sounds as good as that from your scanner). I say the latter because I think many would say that the SDS audio itself sounds better, or that SDRTrunk audio sounds better, and I feel that way myself. That's not a decode issue though.

Always nice to have options, and you have them.

I don't watch the terminal window. I watch the monitoring windows. I see a lack of traffic indicators during reception via scanner, and a lot of audio dropouts and talkgroup "freezes" in DSDPlus. DSDPlus is not decoding as well as the simulcast-capable scanners, QED.

You're doing something wrong then. But nobody could ever help you because you could never admit if you made a mistake and you are always right. I'm sure there are others monitoring one or more of the systems you are referring to, using DSDPlus, and I'm doubting any of them have such an issue. The software isn't perfect, but ever since P25 was an option in DSDPlus it has supported simulcast systems.

Like I said, glad you have the option of your SDS scanners. Enjoy

Could also be a slow computer, I ran into issued with an inexpensive laptop with an AMD chip. To see if it can improve, try SDRTrunk or if not Phase 2, UniTrunker and compare the output quality.
I run a dozen SDRs on better machines and only have similar issues with systems that are more distant or for whatever reason I am not able to get a decent signal.

That is a possibility. I mainly use a quad-core notebook for DSDPlus.

At least somebody here was able to make a useful suggestion without a personal attack. I really think Lindsey should re-examine the behavior of his DB Admins.
