A 20 db DMR signal should decode flawlessly. If not, I'd be looking at the audio input (from SDR#) by looking at the waveform in the DSDPlus window and making sure there is decent "signal" but not a clipping signal (with the top maxxing out).

Then i would make sure that you aren't using too much gain with the dongle and making the signal unnecessarily "dirty".

But at least you got things started there. It's decoding what it is supposed to -- it's just decoding with some errors and there is no voice because there were no actual voice comms when you monitored it.

Wherever your public safety bands are and wherever your business bands are (in the country you live in), you should just scan around betweene the VHF / UHF band edges, etc.

Are you actually in North America somewhere? Or are you elsewhere?

Posting the state, county and freq your trying might help. And someone could even point you to a known digital signal that dsd would handle, and that would help you get dsd working properly.

Im using the dsd plugin, how do I change it to -fa?

I set my plug in to output to vb cable and only hit "enable aux output". I do not hit start dsd. I start dsd manually by clicking a bat file I made just for use with the dsd plug in.

dsdplus.exe -i1 -fa -o1

Leave off the -f switch.
So without -f, it defaults to auto? Never knew that.

I was able to hear voices! Just briefly, and it was hard to understand. My wave form during this communication was clipping(top maxxed out). My sampling rate is at 1.024MSPS, should I change that? This is what my command prompt looked like: 75940

Also, I live in New Jersey

Hmm that may or may not be encrypted. Seems to be decoding fine now. New Jersey huh? You should have no trouble finding DMR / P25 / NXDN in New Jersey.

1024 sample rate is fine. Just pay attention to your gain, and if it looks like the gain is too high, turn it down. When the gain is two hhigh, the waterfall will look extremely ugly and you'll see images pop up all over.

If you didn't fix the clipping, you probably still should (by lowing the volume knob a little in SDR# until the waveform in DSDPlus is no longer clipping)

The main DSDPlus GUI screen will show if there was actually voice activity. You'll see the talkgroup / radio ID info, and you'll see an indication of whether it is encrypted or not (BP = basic privacy, EP = extended privacy or something like that).

Alright, thanks for all your help. Im starting to listen in on voices now. A little more setting adjustment and I should have pretty clear communication.
