So I'm not causing any confusion, I meant the first set of pics show incorrect polarity. For some reason I didn't see the second screenshot which is definitely in the correct polarity. So, my last post probably came across as misleading.

Another sign I've noticed with incorrect polarities is that the SLOT shows in all caps, but in lower case with the correct polarity.

@mig44n, I notice you're also referring to your "mic in" in your last post. Are you using a mic input instead of a line in? That could also be your source of grief.

Edit: I need to obviously pay closer attention to screenshots. I see that you ARE indeed using mic in, and it appears that you have the option to use Line In. Try Line in if you can.

I have the voice on one speaker and the sound of data on the other speaker.it's normal or not?

Woah...wait a sec.. You said you are coming from the discriminatory tap to speaker out? That definitely won't work, you need to be going to Mic In or Line In... Not speaker out. And I'm not sure what you mean when you say the correct path... Are you just looking for the proper command line to get things going?

From the scanner discriminator through a capacitor and resistor in series to the speaker out jack of the scanner to the inline of the computer on Windows 7.

My understanding is that I have to run the program from the command prompt in order to change the parameters as per some of the posts I have been reading.

What version of Windows are you using?

Actually I have it on my lap which is Windows XP Pro SP3 and on my desktop Windows 7. On my laptop I can see all of the data coming in but the sound is very broken but unlike the desktop there is no rush of air sound. On the laptop the volume from what I can hear sounds normal, on the desktop it I can hear the OPP talking but the volume is weak and when they stop talking the other rush of air sound is very loud.

A repost of the tutorial I wrote up a month or so ago. Hopefully it helps in some small way.

http://www.scan-ne.net/DSD/DSD4WinTutorial.pdf

Yes I did read your excellent tutorial ( thanks for taking the time to write it up and share it with everyone ) it up to where you get to the command prompt c: This appears to be where I am having a problem. What I always arrive at is c:\user\moonbounce> regardless of how I approach it, I can't seem to get to the actual prompt c: . I think if I could get passed that I would be good to go.

P.S. same for my laptop I can't seem to arrive at the c:, i get c:\documentsandsettings\moonbounce>

Thanks Moonbounce

Hi all,

I'm really enjoying this software. Having one little problem, though.
DSD4Win will run for 5-10 minuted and then it quits. Here is the stack dump file contents:

I am running Win7x64. Running DSD only at command prompt, no recording.
Does this mean anything to anyone?
Any other suggestions?

Mark

Are you typing just dsd -h at the command prompt? Are you sure that you are in the correct folder; the one that actually contains the DSD software? From the command prompt, once you're in what you believe to be the correct folder, type dir which will give you a list of files in the folder. If dsd.exe is within you're all set. If not, you're in the wrong folder.

That's because the dsd.exe file is not in the folder. You need to find where your dsd files are. I'd recommend starting over and having a complete understanding of where you are placing these files. Once you get to the folder that contains the files it will work.

When I click on the download button the file goes directly into my download file. From there documents folder and from there I run it, that is the way I have downloaded other programs and had no problem?

As I recall this comes in a .zip file. You should be able to unzip the files into a folder of your choice. Simply tell Windows to unzip it into a folder called c:\dsd or whatever you want to call it. You then need to go to the command prompt and find your way to the folder, and then run DSD.

There are some "canned" batch files that you can click directly on to run DSD, but they may not cover the type of communications you are trying to decode. This is why my tutorial suggests using the command prompt.

I would google some DOS commands to help you navigate around.

A simple way would be to go to your my computer icon and get to the C:\ icon. Navigate to the root of it and make a directory called DSD. Unzip the files from the download and drag them or copy paste them to that DSD folder.

Once that is done you will simply go to run type cmd and get a dos box. Then type cd\ to get to the root of C:\

Type CD DSD hit enter

Type dsd at the dos prompt and that should do it.

You lost me, I am not that computer savy, but thanks for trying. I think your are talking about the "my computer icon" my copy of Windows 7 doesn't have that icon on the desktop,

>>>According to Binome all you have to do is download it and run dsd.exe, something I have done a hundred time and no luck I sure would like to know what everyone else did that I didn't do?<<<

I've recompiled a version enclosed that won't ask now, so if your lazy and want to decode P25,MOTOTRBO,X2-TDMA
you don't need to do anything and just click dsd.exe

I think the "Windows port" is really a "MS-DOS port." That's why people who have never seen a command prompt before are having so much trouble.
