I just went in to make a bunch of updates to my DSDPlus.radios file. I figured in a TG with a lot of rid I could use a spreadsheet program to edit large numbers of these. Well, it appears you can't. Whenever I save the file back something must be done to the file that DSD+ doesn't like. When you run DSD+ again it only shows the first string of characters until a space in the Radio Alias field. When I look at the file in the spreadsheet program Radio Alias field has the text string but no quotes to let DSDPlus know that whole string is in that field. I saved the file in csv format does DSDPlus not like csv format? How do you edit the files when you want to do a lot of mass additions? The Notes.txt file says you can use Notepad to edit the file. I collect a bunch of TG711 rids and most of them are police officers. You can't just paste into a field like in a spreadsheet when using Notepad. Does every single one have to be edited by hand? I'm using Libre Office Calc as the spreadsheet program. Should I use something else? I tried it saving different formats. None would save the data back to a text file with the quotes enclosing the Radio Alias data.

I've also had trouble with this as well. It seems odd how DSD+ files don't use traditional file extensions like .txt or .csv. The alias text apparently has to have double "quotes". But the problem I ran into is in Excel, there are times where if you try to add quotes in a CONCATENATE formula, you get an error message thinking it's a mistake and it won't let you do it.

All of those files are .txt files no matter what the extensions are. They aren't spread sheets, so Excel won't work for updating. You need a program that will save the file as text without embedding special characters. Notepad and Wordpad will do that, Word might, but you have to be very careful to save it as a plain text file.

csv is good for spreadsheets, but won't work for text files.

I copied all the talk groups from the Onevoice Network into excel and played with it a bit and then pasted it into the dsdgroups file. I had to hit space bar to line them up but it was better than typing it all by hand.
