I notice in the notes there was a DSD 2.505 however I din not get that update only 5.506.

I forget the way the updates work, are previous updates embedded in the latest so not worries if I missed 2.505?

Yes, it is just correction, or addition, to the release before.

Not necessarily. However, the only thing updated between 2p465 and 2p506 was DSDPlus.exe . So that's all you need is the latest update if your previous version was 2p465 or newer.

Is there a server query limit? Both subsystems that I have been sitting on for over 2 days have not received any new responses after 720. Still making lots of queries.

EDIT: Got the number wrong. Total responses for both cells (part of same overall system) is 839 and holding.
Perhaps. That would be a question for the DSD+ anonymous developers. But again, OTAs are not a per-site thing. It's done at the system level.
What system are you referring to?

Edit: I just looked at the aliasstats file, and I don't see any system with 839 pending aliases.

I wish it would do the same for TGIDs :)
That would be nice, but I don't know if that is possible.

I was going to stop by Flagler to check. Do you know if Volusia sends out OTA?
Yes. But Volusia P25 is a Harris P25 system.

You mean 2.506?
In the Misc window, you can automatically check for updates or manualy check now. Either way, you get a .zip file download in your DSD+ Directory with the new files in the update; once you unlock the zip file and unzip it, copy the contents into your leading DSD+ directory. I copy/paste them instead of dragging them so that previous versions are readily available if I need to revert and for my backups.

We didn't know RIDs were possible until the DSD+ developer found them, but I understand it may not be possible.

I think @jets1961 was asking if he missed version 2.505 and updated to 506 would he miss anything in the install, or were all 505 updates in 506 as well.

That is true, but I'm unsure if that is a feature of Motorola.

I understand now. The notes.txt says "Some quick tweaks and bug fixes" in 2.506; I don't know what exactly was patched, so while I don't think he will miss anything by skipping to 2.506 since DSD+ 2.505 implemented the Motorola OTA decoding, which was the biggest feature (IMO), it's always good to have the latest copy of DSD+.

In the Channel Activity window on the top bar what does the message: HighPPMerr mean? Never seen that before.

I understand now. The notes.txt says minor bugs and fixes in 2.506; I don't know what exactly was patched, so while I don't think he will miss anything since DSD+ 2.505 implemented the Motorola OTA decoding, which was the biggest feature (IMO), it's always good to have the latest copy of DSD+.

DSDPlus v505 is NOT functional with OTA aliases. That version is specifically banned from communicating with the server. If you want OTA Aliases, 2p506 is the only and proper version.

Sorry, but that is patently false. OTA subscriber aliases on ASTRO 25 systems was known about and documented for years before the DSD+ author "found them". In fact, I was the first person to send him raw samples to attempt to decode quite some time ago, which he was unable to accomplish at that time. Seems that he has finally cracked the code years later, bravo to him.

Going from 2.465 straight to 2.506 and skipping 2.505 should work just fine because it's the same 2 files that were updated in each release: DSDPlus.exe and Notes.txt.

Reading is fundamental. 95% of DSD+'s features are outlined in the associated text files.

But honestly, I think those files are difficult to read and still have some old, superseded information.

Systems that do ota decoding that are not in the db will show up in the stats file with just the system id.

I would think DSD+ will decode aliases regardless of it the system is in the RRDB. But you're saying this "server" provided by the DSD+ team is calling up system names from RRDB to put 'em in the AliasStats.txt file ? Or is the server actually hosted by RR ?

The server isn’t hosted by RR, and the server doesn’t contact RR. I’m pretty sure about both of those things.
