If -v4 doesn't give you talkgroups, then you are SOL. Try -v4 though.

Mike

Thanks -- with that switch the display showed "[E] Channel Group & User: tg=546" on every transmission, even though different TGs were active. I tried a tap off an analog and digital scanner with the same results, so it looks like I'm out of luck. Strange that with the regular DSD the correct TGs show up without a problem.

Is 8736 meaningful as a talkgroup ID to you?

In the RRDB, if you were to look at a 'decimal' talkgroup, you might see something like 16960, and then a hex value of 424. Well, 16960 really isn't the decimal equivalent of 424 hex. The decimal equivalent of 424 hex is decimal 1060. RRDB shows it as 1060+16 = 16960.

So you might see 546, which is decimal. Hex value would be 222, and RR decimal would be 8736.

222 (hex) = 546 (decimal) = 8736 (scanner-flawed decimal, which is what we display in RR).

There is a reason behind that. A sage once told me the whole story behing why 'decimal' on a scanner really isn't the decimal equivalent of a the hex counterpart. Blame it on a certain scanner manufacturer that it is that way :)

Actually the reason it is that way makes perfect sense. It comes down to the handling of the 16 status bits (or t-bits) of a type II Smartnet Motorola talk group by the scanners. (The status bits handle patch, all group, emergency, encrypted, etc. status) With early scanners you needed to program the 0 status bit for regular talk group.

2 RTL and 2 Sdrsharp programes with Unitrunker help

Ok I will do my best here I have 2 RTL dongles set-up and 2 SDR Sharp programs running and I also have DSD+ for decoder. Now My control sdr folder has the trunker plugin and is taking tons of stuff off the Unitrunker
now the voice fold with sdr when I have the voice sdr running what Freq should it be set to. Why I ask is that the sdr control that is taking in the trunked signals jumps around like it should FREQ To FREQ I don't think I have the voice on set right because the DSD+ may show one if that voice decode in one hour as the control sdr is showing tones of stuff coming in. Sorry very new to this so sorry if it is confusing a little. In a nut shell I'm just trying to get the DSD+ to decode better heres a screen shot of the control data coming.

Thanks a bunch new member Foxy647130 AKA Johnny D.

You'll need 3 VAC running
one for the control ch decode
one for the line in to dsd+
and one for the dsd+ output

The 2nd receiver (sdr) will need the unitrunker plugin running.

some sdr and dsd+ tweaking may be needed after depending on the system you're monitoring.

DSD+ automagically detects the polarity (?!?!) of the DMR/MOTOTRBO signal it's decoding and adjusts itself accordingly, the -xr switch is for DSD only (the older and original digital speech decoder) which could not do automatic inversion of the incoming signal.

DSD+ doesn't need such a switch, it's all done for you when you decode something.

You need 2 lines

Line 2 to feed unitrunker and line 3 to feed dsd+
