Beginning March 22 0600hrs all 3 command Channels (DSP) will be going to full time encrypted.
N-CMD
K-CMD
S-CMD
N-CMD
K-CMD
S-CMD
Where did you hear that from?
Shame if it happensAn email was sent to State Agencies that this was happening. The email was NOT marked as confidential.
But from the looks of it unless officers physically switch over from encryption mode to clear mode it looks like they might possibly be having encryption on all channels as the email stated to manually switch over when using the Command Channel and switch back when not so I'm not sure how this would effect other channels. So this might effectively render the entire system Encrypted.
In Sussex when a car in in enc mode s cmd tells them to switch there radio off encYeah. I don't think it will effect agencies who don't use Command on a regular basis but DSP definitely.
I mean some might forget and you might only hear half the conversation. I currently hear that some nights mainly weekends after a certain time. Dispatch goes Encrypted and I only hear half the conversation but in the morning it changes back.
So I don't know what will happen with other agencies I just know they said to manually turn on and off encryption so...
On the 22nd that will not be the case anymore. In Sussex when a car in in enc mode s cmd tells them to switch there radio off enc
I have a WhistlerIt’s to bad that my Unication G5 Can not do Motorola smartsZone and DES became I have the key code
I confirmed this morning with a police chief
I wonder if this will effect DNR Channels as well, They sometimes monitor / use DSP dispatch channels as well. Does anyone know their reasoning for deciding to go full time ENC?
Since KENTCOM dispatches 16464 - SW DNREC, I am curious if that will be encrypted as well.
As far as it was stated to State Agencies ONLY the Command Channels will be full time encrypted. that is N-CMD, K-CMD, and S-CMDSince KENTCOM dispatches 16464 - SW DNREC, I am curious if that will be encrypted as well.
Thats what worries me. If other agencys are forced to have the ENC keys installed to monitor / interop with DSP, then why not use it too on their own talkgroups.
Encryption does not need to be activated to talk to or listen to those channels as the radio decrypts it automatically with the chip installed.
However, As stated DSP is wanting ALL traffic over Command to use encryption. So if an agency is simply monitoring they don't need to have their encryption on.
