Duke ED on diversion

I just heard on the Durham Site of Durham/Fayetteville system, that. Duke ED will be on diversion for 1hr.. What exactly does this mean?

I just heard on the Durham Site of Durham/Fayetteville system, that. Duke ED will be on diversion for 1hr.. What exactly does this mean?

That the hospital has either an influx of patients and is unable to handle any more patients, hence the hour in hopes that they can clear some rooms or free up staff and get ER wait times down or there was a shooting victim that came in and the hospital is on lockdown

Thanks for confirming. I was thinking along those lines. I didn't know if there were any possibilities I hadn't thought of.
