EAST PIKELAND — A motorcyclist was killed Saturday when he struck a sport utility vehicle on Route 724 near Snyder Avenue.

According to police, the motorcyclist was westbound when he struck a Jeep Liberty turning left from the eastbound lanes into an apartment building parking lot.

The cyclist, who was pronounced dead at the scene, was wearing a helmet, according to police.

No information was immediately available from police about the driver of the SUV or if any passengers were in the Jeep.

The Chester County Serious Accident Investigation Team conducted a full accident reconstruction while members of the Chester County Coroner's office responded.

During the investigation, the son of the deceased motorcyclist arrived on a motorcycle and spoke to investigators before riding off.

Onlookers from homes and the apartment building watched as police investigated the crash.

Police released no further information Saturday. Assisting East Pikeland Police were East Vincent and Spring City police, Kimberton and Ridge fire companies, West End Ambulance from Phoenixville, the Chester County Serious Accident Investigation Team, and the Chester County Coroner's office.
