Just as mbott said there is no setting for de-emphasis. I suspect eton has a certain batch for marketed regions that require 50us or 75us or maybe even what mbott says changing the frequency range might change de-emphasis. The manual doesn't mention de-emphasis. It's more or less the same manual as the Grundig Executive Satellit but updated with various fixes.Nice radio!
It is supposed to be excellent on FM as well. Do you know if it has selectable 50us or 75us FM de-emphasis like the Tecsun PL-330?
It's very sensitive on FM broadcast. It received every single radio station in the county and it's also a good tropo dxing radio.
On aircraft band it picks up the nearby airport ATIS well. Even better than my Uniden BCT75XLT which has great airband reception.
MW broadcast is strong. I can hear Tulsa on 640khz at mid scale on the s-meter with no noise and Tulsa is 90 miles or so from here.
LW is hard to test with only one frequency I can hear on 350khz, Galley VOR at KOKC Airport. It is decent on LW at least for that.
There is some minor flaws. On HF when the radio's frequency is set near a strong signal that overloads the radio lower sideband has a rushing sound. When the strong signal that has overloaded the radio weakens or goes off air it operates normally. Setting the radio from dx to local it goes back to normal.
When tuning between 6920-6935 while the backlight is on you may see a tone that shifts down in frequency. Turning off the backlight the tone disappears.
Every tuning detent is a minor chuff sound. Kind of annoying at times but not a game killer.
If you have or plan to buy yours I recommend making sure when you press in the tuning knob for fine tuning on ssb or using the squelch feature to press it dead center. Try not to push it at an angle. Baby it. Seriously. People have broken the tuning encoder inside of it being to hard on it. You can feel where it's hardest to push and that's where it should be pushed. top dead center of the tuning knob.
It has a hard set AGC and you will hear it sometimes. It's there to lessen overload. Same effect on higher grade amateur transceivers with AGC set to the AGC fast setting.
