With the recent bout of hurricanes and tropical storms in central and eastern NC, I would assume that the State Emergency Management team was buzzing with activity. Does anyone have the frequncies for this agency in the Raleigh area or are they on the smart zone system.

Thanks for the help.

As a USAR team member on standby this past weekend, I can tell you that the EM channels weren't exactly buzzing with activity since they seem to be mostly unused in the last few years. The NCEM ivory tower doesn't have a reputation for communicating well with anybody local anyway unless they want something from you, and with the turnover on both ends each year, the situation probably won't change anytime soon. Most of the traffic was carried out on other frequencies except on a local basis perhaps. The other frequencies included the local emergency services freqs, state trunking system, landlines and, god forbid, cell phones, and the usual ham frequencies especially. Have you checked the RR database for the EM and other freqs? Each locality's FD and LE frequencies were especially active, as were the rescue dispatch freqs if different from FD freqs, as would be expected.

Tim,

Go to this web site and click on the download section then click of the pdf link for the 2004 Emergency Management directory. I will give you information of the frequencies that they are supposed to use and other information about satalitte phones and so on.

The web address is www.ncem.org

Hope this helps
