I forgot to mention, but 3D4-23.23 was showing a neighbor that I do not see in the Wiki:

3D4-89.89 - CC=854.5625 - The only Duke licenses I am seeing for this frequency corresponds to Al's Knob Radio, which should be 3D4-2.2, and Rockingham CT Facility which is 3D4-63.63. Perhaps there is some pending license that is not showing up in my search in Radioreference. The ULS is not loading for me at the moment.

That may be a filler like 397-91.91, until things get set up

Was in a location where I could monitor 397-60.60, which has previously been identified. However, today there was a new site listed as a neighbor, 397-1.1. Looking over the list of sites identified (though maybe not confirmed) the only site using the frequency is the Arba Repeater Site in Snow Hill, Greene County, NC. I have added it to the wiki as an unconfirmed site. The below is from the DSD+ Events file.

I have DSD+ loaded now with the help of my friend Jay. I was receiving some data from the China Grove site but today there is nothing there at all. I will use the list and try and located what ever I can find near me here in salisbury. My antenna is a good 30 feet in the air so I should be able to pick up something.

Welcome to the search, there isn't many near you that are still unidentified, but there are several near Albemarle, Troy and Asheboro. All frequencies are in the 854-860 MHz range. The image below are some of the sites we still haven't identified. Good luck and looking forward to your reports.

Did you try checking the other control channels that are listed in the database? I have noted that some of the sites have switched control channels. It is also possible that the site is simply temporarily offline as they work on getting the system configured. The next time you are able to decode the China Grove site, could you please post a screenshot of what shows up in the Event Log window in DSD? When I decoded that site the signal was extremely weak, so it would be good to make sure I did not miss any data.

You can also keep an eye on the Al's Knob site to see when it comes fully online. Last I checked, it was not transmitting any data yet.

Monitoring in Kernersville, today 3D4-66,66 is showing CC 854.6875 and Scc 855.1375, 855.4125, 855.9375.
Just using the antenna supplied with my SDR, I was not receiving any of the listed neighbors: 7, 20, 48, 51, 63, 78, 82. Should I want to install an omnidirectional antenna in the attic, is there a suggested antenna and cable?

Thanks for the report! It looks like some new sites have recently come online since when I monitored 3D4-66.66 about two weeks ago, I was only seeing 7.7, 48.48, 51.51, 63.63, and 78.78 being listed as neighbors. 20.20 and 82.82 are new.

What frequencies were the reported control channels for those neighbors? Due to the alphabetic nature of the Duke Energy sites, 82.82 could be Winston-Salem since 81.81 is Winecoff TIE. Similarly, 20.20 could be Click Peak in Yadkin County. Knowing the control channels would help confirm this.

I would check those sites myself, but I am no longer in the area.

20.20 is 855.5625, 82.82 is 855.4375.
When I tune 855.5625 DSD+ shows NEXTEDGE96,
855.4375 does not receive anything so far. Hope this helps the cause. My antenna is a couple of feet above the desk, near a window facing East.

Great catch today! I agree with @IcomIcR20 about the sites and the frequencies do match. When you see these on your display please take a screenshot and post it for us. Makes research a lot easier.

Sometimes the decode is slow, or provided incorrect information based on a poor decode. If it doesn't start loading after 3060 seconds click off the CC and click back on. If you have a good signal this usually helps.

An omni in the attic would be good, but I'm not sure what to tell you to get. Typically there aren't many well-performing multi-band omnis out there. There are plenty of omni scanner antennas marketed. If you were looking to put something in the attic for 800 mhz, and it was a decent omni, you might not be able to justify the price unless you were wanting to listen to more than Duke (all Duke traffic is encrypted).

From a coax standpoint, it's always a case of the best you can afford for the most part. LMR 400 or equiv would be the best compromise for 800 mhz. Anything larger is significantly more expensive and doesn't make sense. Anything less than LMR400 will have quite a bit of loss 800 mhz.

But you might want to ask around about multiband omnis that cover 700/800, 450-470, and 150-174.

I'm surprised you cannot pick any up any of those neighboring sites. I'd expect at least one of them to be monitorable from your location considering you are able to pick up Sauratown Mtn (King, NC, Stokes County, Siite 66.66).

One more 3D4 site located and confirmed, submitted to the database and updated in the wiki. I will mention DSD+ FL only found 4 of the six frequencies on this license.

Based on new neighbor showing for 397-51.51, 397-32.32 with control of 856.1125, and the list of current identified sites, I'm convinced site 397-32.32 is the Henderson Twr Site in Vance County. Also, based on identified sites, if 32.32 is Henderson Twr Site, I believe 397.31.31 is the Heath Retail 800 site in Randolph County. I have added both sites in the Wiki as unconfirmed. Hopefully someone in those areas will be able to verify these for us.

And, despite 397-51.51 still being on 855.925 , both sites 397-4.4 and 397-46.46 are listing it as outdated and isolated.

Busy day on Duke Energy's 397-46.46 site with over 100 RIDs and almost 10 talkgroups, only problem is that almost all of them were external RIDs that come over a linked connection, and not actual radios. Note: It appears the 289xxx RIDs are L3 Harris techs, while the 99xxxxx RIDs are using some type of link to the system rather than actual radios. Seems with all this activity they must be getting close to going live.

It appears the rollout has begun, there is still testing going on but there is a lot of actual radios, aliases and even a little GPS/LRRP data being seen. For those that were listening, and didn't go to Alabama where they just got indoor plumbing :), you might want to spend a little time and see if there is activity in your areas. Keep in mind, it is a utility and not police dept. so comms won't be as frequent.

Method Interpath (Raleigh) site 397-46.46 appears to be active. Only TG seen is 62014 with radio aliases of CAR-3_xxxx_POR or MOB (portable and mobiles), it also appears the EXTERNAL is the base office. Despite seeing LRRP/GPS data tested (on base locations only) I'm not seeing this feature in use, maybe it will be a future add-on.

I'd love to hear if other sites are in use, I'd think some of the Charlotte sites would be as the corporate office is there, but I don't know.

“Interpath” now that’s quite a blast from the past.
