Wow. This thread sure deteriorated in a hurry.
What's missing is the OP describing just what the noise is. A recording would be better. In my experience, when that part of the spectrum opens up, signals are strong, and there isn't usually a lot of static. Lots of signals would translate to lots of heterodynes and lots of voices.
So, how about the OP give a better description of what's going on. And THEN we can bash CB operators vs. hams.
Got to agree here. Users, particularly newer users who may not have been through a Solar cycle upswing and peak before, might hear the crowded conditions of the 40 CB channels compare it to the quiet channels of 12 months ago, and assume it is noise of some kind, instead of the multiple transmissions all on top of each other that it often is.
Right now CB is very often unusable for local communications during the day for me, and it is strictly because of the very high noise floor caused by the enhanced skip conditions. Of course it can be fun, but it can also be a pain in the butt if your goal is daytime local comms.
Or, it might really be some kind of noise the OP is receiving, probably local.
A recording could go a long way to helping come up with the right explanation.
