The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I'm using the CS-F70 R2.2 Software to program 2-tone alerts into my IC-F70DT radio. My windows 10 computer won't display the help file for the programming software. Can anyone tell me what the different options mean? They show up as Pi Single, PiPi Single, PiRo Single, Pi/R Repeat, PiPi/R Repeat, PiRo/R Repeat.

Also, in the programming software for 2-Tone editing, in the 2Tone Column, there is a spot for "TX" and the ability to select a tone sequence number. Would the selected entry here be used to transmit a 2-tone sequence?

Lastly, I don't see where the length of time the squelch remains open in set. Would that be the channels "Auto Reset" (Tim-A or Tim-B)?

I don't have that radio or that specific CS program, but I do have one for the IC-F5060 series.
These snapshots from the help file from my version.

For question 1, here's a snapshot of the help file for the 2-Tone Ringer:

For question 2, here's a snapshot of the drop-down for TX. It's for selecting 1st, 2nd Tones and giving it a Text Label.
There are 10 available slots.

For the last question, here's the info on the Timer-A, -B

Hope that helps.

Thank you Vern. I think you have answered all my questions and I very much appreciate you taking the time. I still need to experiment a little on the timer setting. It appears that I can set a timer for up to 255 seconds. I would want the squelch to be open for an hour or so and as such I'm guessing that I should set the timer to "off" and hope it leaves the squelch open indefinitely. Further I hope that when I turn off the radio and back on, the squelch will be closed until the next tone out.
